You are a great candidate, 650 average is really really good mate. George's like an art subject, but the 4 classics are still going to get you an interview. I wouldn't worry too much about GCSEs, it is all about AS/A-level results and UKCAT scores to get an interview (and you have those wrapped up it would seem.)
I had Chemistry, Biology, History and Drama A-Levels (AABA), with a 627 or so average with UKCAT, and i got an interview and an offer by mid-December (and am going up to start my first term in October ;P)
But, even with your stats, there is some matter of luck in actually having your application looked at. Unis get so many applications, they have no choice but to discard a certain amount of applications without even looking at them; otherwise, they would take too long to respond to applicants. But, think positive, i'm sure you won't be one of those unlucky applicants. Good luck for getting an interview.Last edited by TXelco; 02-09-2008 at 03:54 AM.

you check all the boxes. concentrate on work experience and interview technique to get away from the normal rehearsed stuff that will be spouted and make yourself stand out!

Hi I see that you did drama at A-level
I'm in year 12 and am taking it along with maths, bio and chem. But I asked a question yesterday saying whether my a level choices are ok. Like 1 person answered, saying it wasn't 'rigorous' enough.
You say St Georges like an 'art' subject... do you mean drama or languages??
Advice really appreciated!!
Thanks!

It doesn't matter what you do as your fourth subject. I did Business studies and it didn't hurt my application at all. I got two offers and an interview (which i flopped). So do what you wanna do, it wont make aaaaany difference.

They just like to see something other than Bio, Chem, Phys and Maths (or so i was told by my applications officer), so Drama or a Language (or History) are all fine. Those subjects you are taking are perfectly fine, i don't know why anyone would say they aren't 'rigorous' enough because they more than meet the subject requirements for any Medical school.
And, as mo_k says, the 4th subject doesn't really matter, it's the grade in it that counts more than what it actually is in my experience.
I hope we've helped."Man is born free, yet everywhere he is in chains"

Do I stand a chance?
Hi, I am an international student and I really really want to get into SGUL, was wondering if anyone could tell me what the rough international intake is like? I can't seem to find it on the website. I did the Cambridge O levels (equivalent to your GCSEs) and scored 6 A*s, 3 As, and 1 B. I have a UKCAT score of 2710 (Average 678). For the A level predicted grades, I have:
Chemistry - B
Biology - A
Mathematics - A
Geography - A
Am I at a disadvantage because of the B in chemistry? Because I read on the website that SGUL has a minimum grade requirement of AAAb. Do I stand a chance at making the first cut?
Would also appreciate any advice on other medical schools which do not require an A for chemistry. Thanks so much.
