Gep 2008

Hello there.
Has anyone who has accepted an offer for the GEP 2008 received anything post the intial acceptance letter and info for those offered a place? It may be extreme paranoia but I wondering if I have forgotten to do something

Hi,

I haven't received anything else since then either. I e-mailed a few weeks ago to check my OH forms had been received (which they were) and was told that over the next few weeks they'd be sending letters out to let people know if they've forgotten to send anything.

Other than that I expect they'll be sending accomodation information sometime this month. I suffer from occassional paranoia too and would really love for the conditional to shift to unconditional, but since they don't seem to do CRB checks until August (and I have no idea what the timescale for the health check stuff is) that isn't likely to happen any time soon!

And I thought it was just me... I didn't email to check that my OH forms were received but Royal Mail says they were signed for so I'm presuming they got there all right. Am expecting to have to have a chat with OH anyway so that's probably going to be my next contact from St. George's.

On another note, there was talk ages ago about a GEP get together (I believe a curry is traditional) before the start of term. Fitting this in around finals and holidays is likely to be difficult - does anyone have any suggestions for a suitable date?

Talk about paranoia... In addition to the usual "can't believe it, what if they change their mind" etc I have the additional worry of what if I don't get the papers on time... Since I live outside the UK there's always a delay in post. I had to email and ask even for my interview date - if I waited for the post I'd get the papers after the interview date. Thinking that I have to book air tickets in advance, that's not the best case serario... What if something like that happens now with accomodation and stuff? I'm putting in my resignation next week; if anything goes wrong I'll be unemployed AND homeless come September *breaks out in cold sweat*

I'm sure they'll get in touch if you've forgotten to send anything or (worst case) the stuff never arrived. Might be worth emailing them and asking them to get the accom application sent to you asap if you're worried about postal delays, I'm sure they'd be more than reasonable.

SGUL do seem to leave it quite late though... I think I'll email them to make sure they got my forms (argh, now I've caught this paranoia bug!)

Just for interest has anyone else got their student loan assessment yet? Mine was delayed for about 3 months due to mislaid documents, then I was told on Wednesday my entitlement was £0 (the computer said so) but now I'm pleased to see that I've got the full entitlement plus 7 weeks long course loan once there was a bit of human intervention.

So that's one less thing to worry about for next year .

Thanks Crispo, I think I'll do that... I thought I shouldn't bother them since they obviously have lots of things to do + phone calls and emails all the time but I don't want to risk anything.

BTW just received yesterday a student loan application pack from UCAS. When did you guys receive yours? Maybe if we all received it at the same time things are not so bad regarding post delays...?

I haven't received anything about student loans from UCAS - I just went to http://www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk at the end of March and applied online. Apparently they deal with online applications first, in which case I wouldn't have liked to have submitted a paper one since it took 3 months to get it processed as it was!

Yea, figures they'd take their time when it comes to giving money... Well, I don't care much about that anyway since I won't be applying for a loan... But all the other stuff I do care. I think it's time to take some more serious action. Thanks Stephen.
