thanks all, feeling slightly less worried now. I think all im scared of is that they'll see i had to take time off etc, and think oh she cant cope/handle things, something that they always stress across is vital for a career in mediine- ability to deal with stress. But hopefully nothing else will come of it :-S

Don't worry about it, loads of people get depressed before, during and after medical school. It's important that you know when you need help. You have to declare it as there would be an issue your professionalism if you do try to hide it.
You will probably be asked to see the Occupational health physician though. She will just check that things are ok now and that you know what lines of help are available if you find that you do become depressed again!

I know some medics who had exactly this experience. They had to see occy health before the course started but it didn't stop them getting on the course.

Really, don't worry if you're asked to make an appointment to see occupational health. In fact you should probably expect it. I'm starting F1 in August and occupational health want to see me a few weeks after I start so that I know what support is available, etc, if I get depressed again (which is actually highly likely)!
