Community spirit - (good) Close knit networks, support, family away from your family. (bad) Seeing people you dont like every day + gossip spreads faster (good if you're not the involved party).

Teaching - (good) early exposure to clinical topics keeps basic science refreshing + good anatomy department. (bad) stats poorly taught, sociology is rubbish but then again I've heard the same sentiments from students of other uni's

Location - (good) shops close by, local to wimbledon (yes tennis, strawberries and cream), library on site, cheap rent (especially student accomodations). (bad) may appear to be a bit of a rough neighbourhood, far from central london.

Sports/Societies - (good) excellent hockey, netball and rowing teams. On site sports centre + swimming facilities practically next door. (bad) not as much variety as compared to a big university.

Community spirit - I agree with the above - it's awsome! Has something to do with everyone living in halls together and then spending two years in lectures together!!

Teaching - I think it's really good. I've shared placements with people who are at Briston, GKT, Imperial - George's is good. I find they are supportive. Clinical teaching is by in-house consultants at St. George's and as tutorials by consultants you are attached to in other hospitals.

Location - Clapham, wimbledon are very close - central London about 20/30 mins away by tube.

People always forget that years 3-5 are clinical and like any medical school in the country you DO NOT stay at the same hospital for that time. You get placement in all sorts of places. However compared to other medical schools a fairly large proportion of the other hospitals you go to are commutable from Tooting which is not the case for most medical schools.

Sports/societies: pretty much everything yuo want is available or close by - if you want to join some obscure sport then University of London Union have a massive variety.

Tooting is a dump. The course is great though. Make of it what you will.

dont loads of med skools do this?
the community spirit at sgul is pretty much in line wif any med skool, only you know a greater percentage of the medics there, becos there are fewer to meet.

quite why beig 20-30 minutes from the most expensive city centre in europe is a real bonus beats me, but i am sure it does offer some minor advantages.
not that you are 20/30 minutes away really if you count transport to the tube as well - more like 45 minutes at best.

if you count needing to change buses twice commutable, that fine. St. Helier's, anyone?

although every city in th uk has the same plus more, and ULU is much forther than every city's facilities, if we are being 'onest.

If you are a graduate on the Barts course there are only 45 places per year and I hear they don't see that much of each other because even in the first year everything is all spread out. Imperial remains to be seen, but having the whole medical school in one corner of the university (at least for the first year or two of the degree) must be a bonus in bringing everyone together.

Sorry Stripz, your point meks no point.
so what if they dont see each other?
they can if they want to in every class/lecture.

i fink the point you mean is that they are cut off from the other ealthcare professions (which appens equally at imperial if not more so).
