i swear being on waiting list is more painful than getting a rejection...ive had 3 rejections without an interview so far so im desperate for a place, its pretty much my only hope!

do you think theyd give priority to you if you havent got places elsewhere?

no im pretty sure that it makes no difference, seeing as unis arent allowed to see any other details about your other uni choices ie who you applied to and the status of such applications.

Does anyone who knows about the admissions process this year know what method sgul is gonna use when deciding to give waiting list apps a place? Is it just gonna be like last year when they just give it to those with a ukcat score of 600 or will they look at other things. Also will they take into consideration if you already have your grades and got good marks? Do they look at the personal statement? okay im just ranting now...sorry about that. Any info would be much appreciated!

I think at the open day they said they used the UKCAT to rank people on the waiting list. They didn't mention anything else, so it sounds like it might be the only method they use.

well they have to give out all their offers first so they can find out how many spaces are left. Besides I wouldn't want them to just do it on ukcat scores alone. I'd rather wait the extra months so that they can look at my personal statement etc. The ukcat has screwed over so many ppl this year (especially grads), so I'd say that maybe it shouldn't be the only determining factor for waiting list apps. Before the AR section was taken out, some ppl may have got 600 and then they would miss out. Personally I don't see how the ukcat will in any way be able to determine how well a student will do at med school.

I'm on the waiting list - have been since December =[
A place at St. George's is even more important to me now than it was back then because my dad died last month and so I want to be a bit closer to my family than 4 hours away in Leicester. =[
I'd feel really guilty if I was that far away from my mum because I know she needs me now. =/
stressful

Hello everyone,

Sorry to barge into your thread, but I just have a quick question. Were you told specifically by a letter or e-mail that you were on the waiting list, or did you phone up to check the status and then they said you were?

do1ly_mixture, sorry to hear about your dad, I'm sure he'd be proud that you're going to be doing medicine and going to help people.

I hope you get in as well Preetz, and good luck to everyone else still waiting,
