Psychological Medicine & General Psychiatry, in the Genetics and Psychosis (GAP) study under Prof Robin Murray - 5th floor! Alongside IMPACT, AESOP, etc...

Thanks for the kind words Strippins. As for your question about changing from clinical psychology I'm just glad I didn't get asked that in my interviews! You're quite right, there are lot of things about clincal psychology which are really rewarding and interesting, but it's always been my second choice because I thought I had missed the 'medicine' boat many years ago when I didn't go through the traditional route of A levels etc. For me psychology is just one, albeit crucial, strand of health and I always wanted to be involved in the bigger picture -now I am starting to sound like I'm in an interview but you did ask!!

And Hi Skeating! I trained at the IOP and worked there for a while but back in the early nineties. I now work in Epsom with acute inpatients. I know Lynne Drummond as I supervise the junior doctors for their therapy practice here and she's very involved, or was, in this field. She's great fun!

    just to say hello!

Hi all!i've decided that after all the reading ive done in this forum pre- and post- offer i really should finally say something, considering how helpful it was in the run up to the offer!

sounds like there are lots of pyschologists on the GEP course, and such a nice broad mix of ages and backgrounds, its going to be really interesting!

i'm 24, though turning 25 on the first day of term- first day of freshers week! not doing anything very exciting at the moment, just doing admin temping to save up and hopefully do some last minute travelling before term starts.

can't wait to start med school, although my brain is going to need a serious kickstart due to its underuse these days!

I'm a bit late on board this thread but after lurking and seeing what offers came in, I'm teetering on the brink of making SGUL my firm choice - I'm just waiting to hear from Soton before sitting down to weigh up the pros and cons of what offers I may have.

I'm 34 and currently a teacher (Music Technology) in a Specialist music school in Somerset, so London is going to be a bit of a shock after 10 years! A pleasant one I expect, though.

I initially trained as a pianist so this isn't the first career change for me, although I'm sure it'll be the last.

I look forward to meeting you all sometime soon!

    John.

Hi John, nice to see other teachers going into medicine... I'm also a teacher, I teach Greek, Math and Science to 5th and 6th graders. And Francis is a teacher too, right? It's great to have people of same age group and same background (sorta).
