    GCSE Entry Requirements

Hello, I was looking at the general entry requirements for St Georges and I came across that you need at least 416 points from 8 GCSEs. Which means atleast 8As which should include english, maths and double science.
So basically im well annoyed because i got 7 As and 3 Bs!!!!!. I did 10 GCSEs and 7As and 3Bs is 502 points. So my question is, will i definately get an interview???? Because although i have not got 8As I have got more points. Did they mean 8 GCSEs minimum achieving 416 points in which case i am ok??

    For entry requirement reference: http://www.sgul.ac.uk/students/under...icine_home.cfm

No, unfortunately they meant average of A out of 8. Your top 8 more specifically. If you don't have that your application will be considered by a panel, and if it is good enough you will be called for interview.

Further maths is not considered to be a distinct subject

I was told by Caroline Persaud at an open day 6 As is the minimum requirement and AABb as in you must have gained a B in the AS level you have dropped. Your predicted A level grades must be AAb and they do not consider UKCAT or personal statements until after interview as a point of reference. So if you have 6 A GCSEs inc. Science, Maths and English, gained a b in the AS you dropped and are predicted AAB in your A Levels you are pretty much guaranteed interview. (^^,)

The question wasnt directed at me but its just language not literature and if your talking about gcses you need an A not B. An A in Language and a B in Literature is what is required

I honestly don't know why they say 8 As on their site but Caroline is like head of admissions (or something important like that!!) I only spoke to her just over a month ago at an open day and she wouldn't have said it if it weren't true. Perhaps they intend to interview more this year, so have lowered their grade requirements =/ Don't really know. I would say email her if you're unsure. I've emailed her with questions before plus she is a member on here. I'll try to find her details for you guys and post them on here when I can. =]

Here you go, got it off St. Georges website

    cpersaud@sgul.ac.uk

She is in charge of undergraduate admissions and I think is on the interview panel (not sure) so I'd make sure to proof read any emails so you don't sound like a dork! And don't give your full name at the end if you don't fancy being remembered at interview!

I always get remembered for dumass things I say! I have to be aware of it now! *blushes* trying hard to train myself NOT to do it at interview! (>.<)
