Smile Hepatitis B Vaccinations, am I too late?

Hey guys, I received an offer about 3 weeks ago from SGUL for A100 Medicine, and it seems like its gonna be my first choice. Just a bit worried since I have not yet started my Hepatitis B vaccinations, I hear it takes six months? Can those who are applying and also current students tell me whether I am too late and need to talk to the admissions tutor. Im gonna start this week, but am worried that its too late. Help!!!

You'll be fine- make sure you definitely get started this week though!

Basically the Hep B is for your protection- you'll be on wards and with patients from the get go so you don't want to get anything nasty! They realise that some people will have difficulty getting the jabs from their doctors and will get people not protected vaccinated, but as I say, it's best to get them done.

    Cheers

Most med schools would prefer you to have had all 3 jabs before you pitch up, but as long as you have jabs 1 and 2 done by the time you get there that should be fine. Jab 2 is given a month after jab 1. You can then have jab 3 (and the anti-body test 6-12 weeks after the third jab) after you've started med school.

You could quickly confirm with SGUL that this is ok with them, but I can't imagine them objecting

In the past people have turned up without the third jab/without the anti-body test. Hell, I rolled up without the anti-body test and they still took me - the OH dept. sorts it out once you're here.
