If you meet the simple academic criteria which includes GCSEs as well as predicted grades for A-Level, you will receive an interview. It's as simple as that, as it explains in the funky flow chart found in the prospectus.

You'd be surprised how many people either
a) don't read the prospectus,
b) do read it but think they'll get through on the strength of their personal statement - which doesn't even factor until the interview.

SGUL medics, do you get as much fun as other medics in universities?
I heard someone said that in SG you don't get the full experience.
but I think there are so many good points about Georges which makes it an ideal place to study medicine;

any comments?

True, but it also means that there are more post-interview rejections. It's kinda like Cambridge whereby they interview nearly all their applicants, but there are more rejections. Imperial College, on the other hand, interview around 700 people for 500 offers, and Birmingham's heavy-handed GCSE cut-off means that if you do make it into the interview stage, you've virtually got in.

Actually, I think we normally get between 1500-2000 applicants, of which we interview 700-900 for 400-500 offers. Something like that anyway. It was on my invitation to interview letter - can't remember the exact figures but it's something like that.

Who said you don't get the full experience? Send them to me and i'll insert carrots into their bodily orifices! The medicine experience at Georges is AWESOME and there will be tons of people who'll tell you this all around the medical school. It's too early in the morning yet but i'll see if I can find my list of reasons why Georges is great to study medicine later...

JackBrandy- rather than seeing if SGUL is easier to get into- go and visit the uni, and see if you actually like it!!! I think they have open days on the last wednesday of every month or something like that- so go and have a look around. I know the fact that SGUL is just a medical school means that it doesn't suit everyone, but when I went to the open day I loved it!

just to clarify, SGUL does not condone the insertion of carrots into bodily orificies. It is against our health and safety policy

I like carrots.
I don't think SG is easy to get into! I don't think medicine is easy in any way! I just want to see my chances. I don't think anyone would argue that you would have less chance of getting into King's than SGUL. simply because of number of applications and politics, lol.

I know what you mean. I think that you have a fair chance at SGUL. This year I applied to Edinburgh and Southampton- thinking that they would increase my chances of getting a place because they don't interview, and I had a strong personal statement. I got rejected from both, and really cut down my chances.

All I mean is that you are applying to completly different unis- peninsula is all PBL, where as the others don't use it as much.

Go and visit all of the uni's and see what you think to them!

I will go on a SGUL open day. hopefully after my June exams. I'm sure I will like it. It seems it has everything I want from a medical school.

Thank you guys
