sounds most definitely like a waiting list place to me... i've got one as well!
i found out by calling on Friday. As others have said the waiting list people are offered deferred places (guaranteed entry in 2006), but you must take a place that may come up at short notice for this year.
Wait for the letter or call em on monday to see where you are in the waiting list, i'm 13th!!
Lady in admissions said the year before 4 people on the waiting list got in, and last year all of the waiting list managed to get in.
So its kinda crappy after all this waiting i'm left waiting again! but at least we'll get in eventually if need be.Murphy's Love Laws:

Auden,
Yes, I am pretty sure that I'd take the George's waiting list place rather than a place at Nottingham and Derby. At least it would give me another year to build up a 'war chest' and I have a house (and a life) in London. Also glad to know that they give you a rough idea of where you are on the waiting list Donutz. It seems strange to me that 17 places went in 2004 but only 4 in 2003, though I'd hope that the trend continues into 2005.
All this waiting reminds me of that hoary old football quote;
"It's not the despair that's the problem, I can cope with the despair, it's the hope that kills me."
Best wishes all..

I too got an offer for 2006, have to say that i'm chuffed, i ballsed my interview up so thought i'd never get in and this way i might actualy be able to afford it. Plus a year of being able to relax with no applications and the chance to get some more experience has got to be a good thing. Now i have to try and get some work done!

sorry to drag this up from the dead.
will anyone here NOT take a GEP offer for SGHMS or know of anyone who won't? I'm just trying to gauge my chances of getting in this year as i'm on the waiting list. I'd MUCH rather start this year (waiting a year rather negates the advantages of a 4 year course!).
Tried to work out all the possibilities of firms and insurance so that i could jump to another course come Sept and nothing came up at SGHMS, but it just won't work. Essentially u have to take the risk with SG and give up anything else, or just give up the wait list place and get security from a guaranteed place.
Arg the waiting is already killing me... so many decisions revolve around if i can get into SGHMS this summer...Murphy's Love Laws:
