it doesn't really matter what questions they ask most are similar from person to person you can basically predict the easier questions and the harder ones simply test you under pressure.

They gave us a sort of guide to the kind of questions that might be asked in interview, in the pack they sent out with the interview letter. That'll do me to revise for my interview. I wouldn't feel happy, if I put myself at an unfair advantage. 'Cos I know they are going to love me anyway!!!

I'll be nice n give a generalised update.

BEFORE INTERVIEW:
I can understand u might be terrified, it was my 1st proper interview n i was nervous esp. when i saw, all the suited up interviewees lookin so tense n serious in the waiting area in the student bar! but then the St. George's people were so nice The students talked to us about uni life etc, answered our qs n then they made each of introduce ourselves n say e.g.fav. movies etc. Then they gave us a tour before the interview n put us @ ease. We all watched as one by one each one of us were called. There was noone who came out bursting out in tears-gud fing Some had different opinions about the interviewers. They will ask qs u're not expecting or try to make u think.

DURING INTERVIEW:
There were different interview groups n a board wiv lists of our names, i had 2 doctors and a medical student, one med student couldnt make it. The man came to get me n asked me about my trip there n then when we got the room, he introduced me to the others, lyk he sed he wud n i shook their hands.

I sat down on the opp side of them with a table between us. Remember to smile naturally n try to maintain eye contact, luk @ da person who asks u da q n glance over to the others while answering.

Advice is to know how to ans da interview qs in the interview pack sent to prepare u cos tis basically the type of qs thy'll ask u. Think positively, they want u dats why u gt interview. BE URSELF n DON'T LIE n if u dont know the ans, say so, u cn say i think it's...tho - even the students stress that. The qs are standard n they do av a list to ask but there will be follow on qs depending on ur wat u say. My interview went well nt perfect but tis practice for the next one i suppose

They asked e.g:

1)Why do u want to be a doctor?-OBVIOUSLY

2)Tell me wat research uve read lately in news etc? -

3) What do u do for extracurricular activities?

4)Have you had any work experience in hosp/GP setting?

5) Since we don't have your personal statement, what would be the most interesting thing on there?

6)Is there anything voluntary work (in community) you've done n what did you learn?

7) (found this hard to answer or put into words)Scenario:In talking about team, if you had a disagreement with someone you work with, wat would you do?

Then they asked me if i ad any qs n then while i left they had to fill in paperwork.

It helps to try not to be nervous, i know easier sed than done! If u feel nervous try to portray it as enthusiasm! Rem BE URSElF n think positive n u shud be fine n try not to overanalyse all ur ans afterwards. Oh yeh, read prospectus n know reasons why St. George's e.g. multi - disciplinary learning Gud luk! Have faith in urself n ull be fine.

my interview

Remember that St. Georges love RESEARCH, i was asked
1. How important is research?
2. Name a big development in the last ? years..I said genome project, this wasn't god enough for them so i then said MRSi scans and X rays, they then said "well, all these big technologies won't be available in the thirld world what would you do there to make a dignosis?" I thenm went on a rant about how I would look at the environment and nourishment as these are usually the primary causes of illness in a thirld world country
3. What would you do if you were a junior doctor and yu didn't agree with a decision that your consultant made? I said that i would first go and speak to the consultant, befor i culd expand one of the professors (who HATED me on sight) interrupted with "WHAT, you'd go and knowck on the door and say EXCUSE ME BUT I THINK YOU'RE WRONG!!!!!????" I replied with "no, but i need to known the reasons why the consultant made that exact decision, he must've had some reasons that i may bot know avout, the case may be that im wrong...." so i kept on arguing and then she agreed with me hahahaha
4. Who are involved in sending home a patient with a hip replacement? DON'T forget to say social workers because he may live on ghis own....i forgot teh word for social worker and said " the people fromthe council" hahahaha....that was my nerves
5. What do you do to relax?
6. What isn't a good way of relaxing?
7.Name advantages of working in a team?
8. Name disadvantages of working in a team?
9. Why med? (obv)
10. Why here?
11.What do you like to read?
12. What did you do on your work experience?
13. What is the most intyresting thing on your personal statement?

Yep, i think they each asked 4 questions so in total i got asked 16 questions....aaaAAARRGGHHHH!!!!!!
Overall i was nervous and scared and 2 of the interviewers were lovely, and the other two HATED me..and has to argue with EVERYTHING i said!!!
Good luck to everyone and rememeber, stick yo your guns if they argue with you!!!

They were just trying to play the good cop and bad cop thing really.. So don't worry about it. They want to see how you cope under pressure (which you did fine!!!) e.g. if you are in a difficult cinical situation or dealing with a difficult patient. So nothing to worry about!!

And i received a rejection 3 days later.... but hey, at least i can now write in the rejections thread. I suppose it was my 'erm..those people from the council...?' answer and then the woman went..."You mean social worker"

I am sorry to hear about ur rejection. Look on the bright side, at least you have a other unis which may be willing to give u an offer after interview. just use this as a learning curve.

I am sorry your rejection, but that is how they do it anyways. They just can't reject on that one point!! Did you ask for feedback?

Err - look at the subject of this post

When I posted this message I specifically asked applicants not to post their interview questions here. I can't believe that questions have been so blatently listed. It makes it impossible to select candidates and when we get the same replies from candidates makes us doubt their integrity. Our only choice will be to make questions harder and more obscure and so you didn't really do your fellow applcants any favours.

I give up.
