Soton will be my first choice, does it matter which order you tick your med school choices on UCAS? does this indicate order?
Will soon book my UKCAT for late september, plenty of time to practice! Have you guys bought the 600Q book?
good luck!

I'm planning on applying to Southampton too but a large factor is that they accept my degree (economics) and it is the ideal geographical position for me. I would prefer a course that is heavily based on PBL like UEA's.
I'm wondering about the personal statement. Given it's so critical for Southampton do you think it would be foolish to say that I think PBL would really suit my style of learning?
I'm also thinking about the 5 year too. Does this sound risky (lots of eggs in one basket)?
Good luck everyone with your applications!

UEA don't do a GEP so that's a no go for me.
as for personal statement, for soton we're going to have to make it shine. but we've got ages to do so, just don't leave it until the last minute. the prospectuses are helpful in telling you what the universities are looking for.
i have seen people on NMM apply for both BM4 and BM5, and get an interview for BM5 for BM4. so by that logic, go for it!

Thanks!
I was under the impression that Southampton don't normally interview - hence why the PS is so important.

I wouldnt bother writing about liking PBL. Maybe just include a sentence or two about how your degree has helped you develop a self-directed learning style and how you've built good analytical / critical evaulative skills etc. That way you're indirectly showing you're suitable for PBL but not alienating any non or 'lesser' PBL instiutions, if that makes sense?

good call phizzle. that also prevents your statement from reading like you are merely ticking off all the qualities asked for in the prospectus.
how are your guys' PSs coming along?
and, as far as i know, soton do not interview BM4 applicants.

Soton will be my first choice too, loved the course at the location. PS is a nightmare, really can't get it down to the required length without taking out massive chunks that I feel i need to include :s. And django is right about interviews, they don't interview for BM4 or BM5, only BM6.
Good luck everyone
