Calling those with BM4 offers :)

Hey =)

I've recieved a (very unexpected) offer for the BM4 course, and I wondered if anyone else was in the same position.

I'm very nervous, I have no idea what to expect, what to do about living arrangements/ funding arg! I really wasn't expecting to get a place.

It would be amazing to here from others who intend to go next year =)

Great shout with the thread! Congratulations on your offer, I've also had one ... was really shocked but am so happy. It hasn't sunk in yet! Am almost certainly going to be heading there in September =)
Will definitely be going down for the open day to mooch around and find out more about everything! Are you planning to go too? I think from what I've heard the open days are a good chance to meet people and discuss accommodation etc. Not sure when it is yet tho ...

I was really surprised; I was rejected by my other 3 choices, and was kind of assuming it was going to be the same with Southampton with them taking so damn long grrr! But sooo happy I don't have to reapply =) although I had kind of planned a chilled out gap year damn =P

I really want to go to the open day, but its 2 months until finals so I might not be able to go =( - I'm hoping they have something from June onwards... still waiting to receive a letter directly from them =(

I've also got an offer for BM4! It's good to hear from others in the same boat! I've heard rumours that
the open day will be on the 13th April (can't remember where I got that from) but am hoping that might
be in the letter that Southampton should be sending.
I'm slightly scared as I think I might be a bit older than you guys...28 by the time I start! But just soooo
chuffed to have got it..have bought the complete House box set to ease me into October lol!

Hey Susielu, congratulations! Great to hear from you. YES I too need to get on the House bandwagon, have heard it's amazing ... think you should bring the boxset next year to motivate us through the hard times!
And fear not, age is nothing but a number, and you'll have so much life experience behind you to help you! =) I reckon there will be such a spread of different ages and backgrounds on the course, the more varied the better! We can all bounce off each other, it will be great.
April 13th rings a bell actually ... are you hoping to go to the open day? Am looking forward to seeing the uni, have never actually been to Southampton!
Really hope the exams go well Sarahbeth, yeah hopefully they will hold another open day in the summer! What degree are you doing? I graduated last year, did an English degree so am doing my science a-levels now ... bit of a shock to the system after all these years of doing arts subjects, ha! xx

Hey I also have an offer from Southampton, it was the last uni to get back to mee too and im so happy! Im currently in my third year at Leeds uni doing a Medical Science degree and will hopefully get a 2:1.
Iv never been to Southampton either so definately going to the open day in April, are any of you going?
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Congrats on your offer, and hope third year madness is going well ... not long til you'll be finished and have a looong summer to detox =)
I'm definitely going to the open day. Think I'll find somewhere to stay the night before cos have a long journey ... not keen on getting a 5 a.m. train!
Hopefully there will be students there for us to harass with questions! x x

After setting up this thread I haven't had much input (stress of finals! )

But congrats everyone

You'll have to let me know how the open day goes (desperate for information about living arrangements!!- anyone have any information? I received the accommodation info. but that's just for first years right? I don't know whether we classify as that :S)

Also, I'm a bit confused- I can't find anywhere on the Southampton website that we are entitled to having the last 3 years of tutorial fees paid for? (I thought this was the case for grad courses)

Aw that's a shame that you won't be there on Tuesday, but good luck with all the revision - I'll pass on any useful info we get to you! I'm keen to suss out the two things you mentioned: where bm4 medics tend to live in first year, and funding information. I think we actually do count as undergraduates, so would be guaranteed accommodation in halls... but some of my friends are on other grad courses and they lived with other medics in their first year in student houses (as in, just grouped together before starting and found somewhere to live). I'm not sure which I'd prefer, so will just wait til Tuesday and see what the general consensus is/speak to past students and see what they did! x x x
