Plus they don't interview either, and therefore have to scrtinize every application in detail. It takes time. Just try to keep yourself occupied.

I think it is also a different team of people who handle the graduate applications.

If the team is fairly small then they are likely to take a fair amount of time, especially if they have to at least double check every decision that gets made, not to mention their other responsibilities within the university/community.

Thanks for keeping the posts going. I hope if anyone hears anything good or bad they will let us know. Did someone say they do not interview all Graduate Entry applicants?

    Cheers

What foxyamy said. They only interview overseas applications. Has anyone heard anything this week? Seems to have all gone quiet!

    Hi guys,

Just stopping by to see how everyone is doing. I'm BM4 first year and was feeling nostalgic so found myself on here. I'm in a helpful mood so if you have any questions, you can fire away!

Well, I can only speak for the GEP medical degree but in my opinion, BM4 is fantastic.
We get a lot of clinical teaching at Winchester hospital and at GP clinics and the quality of that teaching is
second to none. They will have you performing cardiovascular and respiratory examination in no time!
The graduate group format is a LOT less formal than they make out, and the sessions are interactive and quite fun once you've done a few. I personally find it a much easier way to learn than to be lectured at constantly.
The downsides of the programme are that to accomodate all the clinical teaching, they have had to cut down the anatomy and histology content of the course quite significantly and if you want to learn extra, it's left up to you. So surgeon wannabe's, take note!
There is obviously a lot of material to cover and a lot of your own reading will be required but this is generally not a problem if you can stay on top of things.

    Thanks for posting!

Do you know how the work load compares to a typical 5 year programme? My only concern with graduate entry courses in general is that medicine is tough enough without compressing the material even further.

I would not have applied if I didn't think I could handle it, but equally it would be nice to have a life at the same time and I would like to think I will still be just as good a doctor at the end as someone doing a normal medicine course.

Hmmm, that's interesting Chaz*. I think I'll be more receptive to learning in an infromal setting. The lack of anatomy anf histology coverage is rather disappointing but I'm fascinated with both so with the proper references I should be fine.
Yea, so do you have a social life? I mean- can you make any spare time at all?
