Book list (BM6)
Are there any BM6 people from last year who know what books we need? I know we should get a grant, but i was wondering what we would need and what books are just recomended?
It would be good to do some background reading before october!

Hello,
When i did BM6 there were no set text books (as is the case with BM5) but everyone used Marieb anatomy and physiology. I'm going into my fourth year at southampton and i still use it!
There is a new edition out now which is good, but don't buy it until you get there in case they've changed things since i did BM6.
Good luckSouth Thames Deanery 2011-2013

Thanks
Thanks a lot! Sorry to ask another question, but is the BM5 book list long? I think we get a grant or tokens for books in BM6: if there is only one book needed for BM6, what books should i get for BM5?
Does that make any sense ?
Could I use the book money i get at the start of BM6 for books I'll need in BM5 anyway?
Sorry!

We didn't get money we got tokens that we could use however we wanted. I still have some of mine. There is a fairly extensive list for BM5 but there is no need to go OTT buying books, i am only just beginning to buy books now and i'm about to start clinicals. The library has plently of books and it takes a while to find out your learning style and which book suit you best. In BM5 there aren't particular books that are used by specific lecturers so it really is up to you.
Hope that helps.South Thames Deanery 2011-2013

I've just completed my first year of bm5 and the book list was rediculously long and completely useless, i bought greys anatomy, kumar and clark (essential) and then the gross anatomy book is excellent for the disection room, erm i also bought a histology book (never once used it) embryology was needed (the one by ram sharma as he teaches is) and then i bought a load of crash course books in the uni waterstones, basically most students just buy kumar and clark and grays anatomy and then get the rest out of the library
