Yep Its Accomodation again!!!!! Archers Road & Small Halls
Hey,
Im gonna be starting BM6 in october at soton. I applied for Glen eyre, wessex lane and Archers Road & Small Halls for accomodation in that order of preference. The reason i chose Archers Road & Small Halls was so that i would deffinetly get an ensuite room. Im not really a big fan of it, actually i hate it, i was banking on getting either of the other 2. Now sods law is thats the accomodation that ive got.
Im really peed off cos ive had a look at the pics and it seems the room ends as soon as you enter it!! It is tiny. Ive gt a place in the Romero hall. I was wondering are there any people who live in the Archers Road & Small Halls because every thread has to do with Glen eyre or wessex Lane. So if any one is living there or has, please let me know about the pros and cons. Ive got a feeling there will be a lot more cons. I know towns only 10 minutes away but thats why im getting a bus pass!!!! Is there any chance i could change the accomodation or are the decisions final?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

i know there were quite a few empty rooms in glen last year because people either dropped out, or moved in to private accommodation.
i expect it to be the same this year. visit the accommodation office (opposite the gym) and fill in a transfer form when u get to soton. u probably need to wait for up to 6 weeks to find out, since its so hectic at the begining. but if you are flexible (ie dont mind paying extra to be put in CCs, then you should be able to transfer, although by then u might already have made some good mates that you wouldnt want to move lol)

I was in romero last year.... The cons: the ensuite is really just a wet room and u wont b arsed to go to the gym or DR cos its like plannin an expedition (it took me awhile to figure out the bus timetable, but maybe im just thick). Oh and make sure you pack gloves, scarf and a nice woolly hat, temperatures reach sub-zero...especially at nite. Well dats about it wid the cons really...The pros: like you say, town is walkin distance (ur loan will b gone in no time so maybe it isnt such a gud thing); there isnt much partyin (or football games at 1am) compared to glen or wessex so ul alway get ur work done ( i always got a gud nites sleep...unless the fire alam went off. Oh yes, b sure that the fire alarm wil go of at least once a week, twice in one nite if ur lucky!), the room is small enough far everything to be within reachin distance..u wont even need a remote for ur telly (seriously, the room isnt that small, its quite cosy, just dont go into any of ur friends room who live in glen or wessex). The biggest pro however is the kitchen (just dont throw anybody a b'day party)... So yeah id stick wid romero...I liked it {Honestly
