    Advice on Accommodation

I'd be grateful if any current students at Soton could give me some info about accommodation. I understand that first year lectures are split between Boldrewood and the hospital. Which would be the closest halls to these sites? I'd prefer self-catering, ensuite if possible, with a cafeteria (and a grocery store?) reasonably close by.

    Thanks.

    Hey

Hi don't know how much help can be cos I'm not a medical student but I know the campus and stayed in monte in my first year.
In your first year u get a free unilink bus card and can go from accomodations to campus to town the hospital etc.
Glen Eyre is the nearest to Bolderwood 5 min walk if u are elsewhere u can get a bus to highfield, the main campus and walk about 7mins. I am a slow walker it's up hill.
The hospital is quite far but the bus goes regularly.
I'd go with glen erye has self catered never go catered bad plan, has en suite as far as I know plus a bar. Don't know about shops, there's a co op next to highfield. Portswood has a Safeways and Somerfield there's a huge asda in town and others if u have a car.
ANy other questions let me know.

As ejj103 says Glen Eyre is the closest! If you are in monte I think you can actually get the U6H which drops you off outside Boldrewood.
You have 2 mornings a week at the hospital and it takes 20-30min to walk to the Hospital from Glen Eyre/ Chamberlain/ Hartley/ Southill, otherwise the bus is every 30min.

If you want to check out some of the halls see:
    www.chamberlainhalls.co.uk

For groceries most either go to town, or pick up the odd bits from the co-op/ shell garage or use the net and get it delivered.
Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.
