yeah, i just think its one less thing to worry about when getting settled, but i'm happy to cook for myself - also no point in paying for food i invariably let go off!

I'm just going to repeat what I said on another thread in case you guys missed it - in case any of you are thinking of going for Victoria Hall (self catering) don't!! Its very expensive anyway, but then they hit you with an extra £150 for internet connection (thats the slowest option too it goes up to £350), £50 if you want a phone in your room, and £100 a month electricity bills. Good luck!

I'm not sure, but noticed a few on the website that, like Victoria Hall, are "University- partnership self-catering flats" such as The Forge Student Village and Devonshire Courtyard, so I'd imagine there is a possibility of such charges at these places. But, I don't know if they have the same bad rep that Victoria hall seems to have.
I just applied for my accommodation online. Decided to go for Ranmoor Hall as my first choice, with Crescent flats as my second choice.

I was 100% sure i wanted to go self catering and was gonna apply for woodvale flats but now i'm a bit unsure cause ive seen all the social events organised within halls, their outings, balls and just generally meeting up in the bar. If I went self catering would i miss out on this. Also can u go into bars of nearby halls of residense if u don't live there or do most people from self catering just go to the union. Please help cause i wanna sent my accomodation off soon and i'm really confused.

i think that you can go into the bars of other halls, you just have to get your card activated, or something. It was kinda explained at the open day on thurs. After looking round, I've applied to stephenson hall as first and endvale flats as 2nd. hopefully i'll get into the halls!
