Hi Guys,

OK I really want to do an access to medicine course next year but my qualifications, life experience is a bit varied. Sorry this is long...

I have 7 Scottish Standard Grades inc Maths - 3, English - 2 and Biology - 2. I am just about to start a GCSE Maths course to try to get a A/B. I have higher English B, Drama B but failed Biology D.

I also have a BA (hons) Theatre Arts 2:1

for the past tens years I have worked consistently in Social/Health Care (Elderly Care, Learning Disabiliies support, homeless support, drug and alcohol work)

I have volunteered for 5 months fulltime in a childcare centre, 2 months fulltime with the learning disabled and 3 months in India as a healthcare assistant.

I am worried because although I have wanted to be a doctor since I was 13 (6 months after I had picked the wrong options) I have waited until the age of 28 to do anything about it.

Ater my drama degree I started a nursing diploma in 2005 but only lasted 2 months due to health reasons (I had been diagnosed with mild multiple sclerosis, a few weeks before it started and my head was understandably elsewhere throughout those months).

I am however physically fit and have recently been told my ms is very mild and unlikely to cause serious disability.

I also realised that although nursing is a great profession it is not where my vocation lies. I want to be a doctor.

Do you think any of this will stop my chances of doing getting into a medical school/access course?
