    Help and advice needed

    Hi,

I'm new and I wanted to ask you guys for some help and advice.

I am entering 6th year and I have just received my results couple days ago.

    MATHS: A
    PHYSICS: A
    CHEMISTRY: A
    COMPUTING: A
    FRENCH: B

I would really like to do medicine.

Also I'm doing AH Chem, AH French and Crash Biology for 6th year.

Anyways I just wanted some all round help. Hints, tips and advice on the road to go down to get to Medicine.

Any help would be great: what I should take for 6th year (becasue I can still change my subjects and I can do 4 subjects if it helps), extra-curricular techniques that are good for medicine, UKCAT tips, and all that. If anyone who has been down this road before and succeeded to get into medicine, please help me and give me advice.

    Thanks very much.

Hey, what you're doing sounds fine and will make you eligible for every school in Scotland - and allow you to enjoy sixth year a bit rather than pressing on with 3 AHs and a crash Higher, which really isn't nice. You will, however, need another AH for most English medical schools. Sit the UKCAT (look on the forum elsewhere for tips). Do some decent work experience - ask your GP if they can help, and your school, and possibly volunteer (or earn money!) in a home for the elderly or with children. You don't mention what you've done as far as work experience goes but I bet it's not nothing - what do you do apart from your studies? Good luck!

if you have done little or no work experience that should be a priority as you will have to write about it in your personal statement and that has to be done and dusted in 2 months..

to repeat what Mussed said if you are applying in Scotland then your subjects are fine.

A good source of 'tips' is just by going to open days or looking at university prospectuses. They will tell you exactly what they want and expect in successful applicants so you just have to set out to fulfill all of those criteria
