It's handy for first year, you can get a discount off your stethoscope. But the journal itself you can access on line. Not sure whether to renew this year or not.

not sure about the stethoscope, I've been told not to get one yet as in previous years students have been given one by the college. I need to agree to pay for next years to get the discounts, so maybe its not worth it? Do you need to join once you are qualified or is it still optional?

I registered with BMA last year and it's awesome, above all the discounts they have library and they send you books free of charge, they even pay the post to send them back. Plus they will help you with anything from medical school problems to representing you in from of GMC so it's worth a look especially that the first year is free. There are many meetings and stuff that they do for the good of the students and the medical practitioners. They are not funded by the government which is a good thing and they are there to help you. My advice is to give it a try.

I strongly recommend you join in the first year especially. Above all the benefits mentioned already, you are entitled to free subscription to the Year1 element of onexamination, which is v useful for exam revision. I'm not affiliated to either so I'm just letting you know.

Got the letter through the door and filled it alll out, are we meant to send it back now or just wait until freshers and give it to the people at the BMA stall then?
