Is it worth buying the student BMJ

Is it worth paying £40 to be a member of the student BMJ? I know you have to sign up for it when you get into university (I think) but I'm in lower sixth, so will it help me or is it just a waste of money?

    Comments are much appreciated,

    Thank you.

Isn't the student BMJ a free online publication?

Maybe you're thinking about the full one, or joining the BMA or something?

I didnt renew membership this year ( gap year ) cos Its just not worth it (in my opinion ) X

You can read every issue of the studentBMJ online: http://student.bmj.com/search/archive.php

If you really want to subscribe to something medically related, go with NewScientist, it's a bit more expensive than subscribing to sBMJ but it's definately worth it. I was subscribed to it last year as a student (got 50% off on top of that) and renewed my membership this year. NS articles are intriguing.

asking about it on a forum under th guise of searching for useful interview material is clutching at strawz, 'op.

lol I didn't ask. Mentioning that you read journals like NS and sBMJ does look good, but only if you are really genuinely interested -they can see right through you at interview.

i got a subscription at the start of lower sixth and we organised weekly discussion groups to talk about some of the issues raised..
sounds geeky i know but it really helped to talk about medically related news and hear other people's opinions as practice for interviews..
the articles are interesting in my opinion and could help at an interview if you research one of the articles thoroughly and they ask you what you have read recently..

if you can afford it then i would say do it..
if not then yeah read them at the library..
and the internet is pretty good for finding articles..
