sez you! It would appear that you are rather careless and don't think through anything, in future take heed and think through all that you do and you'd have favourable outcomes. Foresight and visualisation helps...

I feel I need to get this off my chest. I did my last shift today at the hospital where I've worked for the past four years. It's a private for profit hospital (essentially a business). Lately they have imposed some major cut backs including reducing the medical registrars hours. They hit back by refusing to insert IV lines into surgical patients and taking their sweet time administering discharge scripts. One elderly couple had to sit in the day room for six hours the other day because they didn't get discharged on time so they could catch their train to belfast. We gave the regs more than three hours notice and explained the situation. Yet they still refused to come down and only signed the script about fifteen mins after the couples train had left. I understand why they would be angry but to take it out on the patients in such a petty manner just doesn't seem right to me.

And it's funny because the nurses always bitch about the ct regs saying they are ignorant, not very friendly etc. Except that although they work very long hours and are always very busy, they have no problem putting lines into medical patients, or signing discharge scripts etc.

In answer to your questions about MSc and papers, lots of people will get a publication or two on the way through med school/foundation years and a BSc/MSc doesn't score too much in the way of points. So they would help a little, but it's the whole application that counts. Not just one small subset.

Is life after med school hard? You will have to work hard. But only you will know if the rewards will be enough for you in terms of the relative importance of job satisfaction, finances etc. Some decent work experience and discussions with medics provided me with enough insight to make the correct decision for me. I think it's a great job. I am, however, concerned about my future job prosects. I think anyone entering medicine should be aware that far more medical students are being trained in the UK and that EU applicants can apply for UK jobs. There will be too few jobs to go round, and some of the less competitive UK grads will br disappointed IMO.

In relation to spiderX's comments, a wiki quote on spam:

consists of repeating the same word or sentence many times to get attention ....
I think this is what spiderX is getting at. It's generally considered inappropriate in webiquette.

Thank you very much Yazoo, that really helps at least I now have some idea about the situation and realise that I still need to do lots more to stand out. Also many thanks for clarifying SpiderX's comments, in my defense I am new to posting on forums and thus very naive to webiquette but still, point taken.
Thanks

I would like to move to Europe as soon as possible, can somebody tell me whether it is possible to move before Foundation Year 1 + 2, and therefore directly after graduation, and still complete the medical training correctly? Do the Foundation Years need to be completed in England, and is the medical degree valid in all of Europe?
