RSM Student Members' Group
Hi
We are now planning the programme for the next academic year. So far we have planned: 1) Update on Foundation Programmes 2) Electives Evening 3) Careers Fair 4) Myth or Relaity (title to be decided) 5) Research prize presentation evening We are aiming to also have a cheese and wine night, two or three meetings on medicine and arts, and the Young Fellows will be running Becoming a House Officer again for graduating students! But.... Are we missing something really important to you? Do you feel we should video link to your university and why? What would attract you to these meetings? Are you aware that we run them - if not which university are you at? How can we improve our publicity at your university? The more you tell us, the better we can make our services for you!

Hi,
My name is Ankur and I am currently a third year medical student at Dundee University. From the RSM website, it appears that there is no student representative from Dundee at present. I would most certainly like to be involved with this post, ensuring the views of our medics/dentists are heard. I have downloaded an application form and will submit this in due course. I feel that most RSM activities and organised events are centered around London. Perhaps, if future courses and functions were to be arranged in Scotland, further awareness of RSM could be maximised. Many medics in our year are unaware of the role of RSM and its aim in promoting exchange of information and ideas on the science, practice and organisation of medicine. As a thaught, it may be useful and interesting to liase with other bodies/scoieties within the Dundee University such as DUSS (Dundee University Surgical Society) to orgainse video-link facilities or arrange day courses/visits to London. I feel that representation is needed in our university and would like your views and opinions in this regard. Please do not hesitate to e-mail me. (ankur1186@hotmail.co.uk) ANKUR MUKHERJEE |

hey
I agree with the above post. There is no awareness of RSM in Scotland. I have been on the website and all the events seem to be in London, and a few in North England.
I am interested in joininh the RSM, and would love 2 be a student rep at my Uni (Aberdeen). Is there anything happening in Scotland, and how can I be involved??

wowwww....i posted my message quite a while ago now, and still no rep of the so called RSM has bothered answering my question!! what a dubious and apathetic society. How about pulling ur finger out of ur so called Southern (London bases) asses and acknowledge other medical schools!?!!
Ps. I am English, but of the northern type!

lol it's just reaffirmed the fact that they don't think anywhere other than London is as important, but I guess it might also be because they may not check on here too often? ... but then what was the point in making this thread?!
lol the BMA, however crap, seems to be a lot better then the RSM ...
