Opinions on Biomed at UCL, able to transfer..?
Hi all, I just wanted to see if anyone had some advice about someone who has once again failed to get into medicine after a gap year.

I have an unconditional for biomed here but I dont know whether to take it ... Is there any possibility to transfer to medicine at all? Are you able to apply through UCAS to medicine in the your first year of biomed? I really, really dont want to become a biomedical scientist so its just risky doing this degree when all I want to do is medicine. If anyone has any advice or knows any other way, i would appreciate any comments! I think ive exhausted the internet looking for options and I just cant decide what to do
Thanks guys! and btw- (im so jealous of everyone who has made it into UCL for medicine! always wanted to apply but I was a chicken!)Gap Year-er!

No you cannot transfer from UCL biomed to med. The only way to gain a place would be to reapply as a graduate, or try applying while a fresher, but this is a little bit dodgy and would not be looked favourably upon if you were found out. However, people have done it in the past and I'm sure will do so in the future.

I know people who did it while freshers at other universities. Applying to the med school attached to the uni that you're at may complicate matters as there will be records of you attending as a current student. It's possible that if you specifically lied about it and said, for example, that you were on a gap year, and were then found out, you could be chucked out for committing fraud. At interview you'd be bound to be asked "so what are you doing this year" and if you said "I'm gapping" you would be lying, and if you said "I'm a biomed fresher" you look like you couldn't follow that through to completion.
