    Help! Intercalated BSc personal statements,

hi, i'm a 2nd year medic at gkt and i would really love to come over to ucl to do the phys/pharm iBSc however the major challenge i'm facing now is that as an external student i have to write a really long personal statement ( dont know if internal students have to do this as well). I am not really sure of what is expected and i have combed the prospectus for ideas and have come up with nothing.
I would be really grateful if anyone out there could offer any help.
Internal (ucl) students do you have to write any personal statements and what should they read like?

my guess would be adressing why ucl?, why phys/pharm?, and what have you done over the past few years/who are you and waht can yer bring. Spencer Wells is the best to ask on such matters though. have they given you a word limit?

As Mubeen rahman said above, the important things to put in the personal statement are your reasons for choosing the course, and why you want to come to UCL to do it instead of doing a similar course at GKT. Internal students are required to write personal statements too, which (in my day at least) were about 1-2 sides of A4. I imagine that external students will write more in order to state their exam grades for preclinicals, which internal students don't need to put down as these are all easily accessible to internal assessors.

no, we do need to write them in...

and to the original poster - don't worry about the personal statement... i had to write mine today... we got no advice about what to write...

i can't understand why you don't want to do a similar course at King's? Don't KCL hate UCL anyway lol?

lol jack-you are right about kcl and ucl's beef, but some dont really mind from the students i have spoken with (kcl were WAY out of order in playing footie with jeremy's head).

anyway, with the course, UCL's may differ vastly in approach and delivery compared to KCL (i have not checked meslf so i may be wrong). not only that but sometimes its good to have a bit of change in where yer study, as well as the opportunity to mix with and develop a new set of mates.

hmm why ucl? when kcl offers pharmacology too?
im currently doing biochem at kcl, and had a module in pharmacology last year, and there was quite a big aspect of physiology in the course aswell. im not saying dont apply to ucl, i don't really get the "ucl vs kcl" thing anyways, all seems well to me. just its perhaps easier to apply to kcl for application sake.

thank you all for your helpful replies.
kings do offer physiology & pharmacology but they are offered separately and modules from both cant be combined, which is why i thought ucl might be a good option. I've heard from few ucl students that the course is well taught besides i imagine the change of environment would do me abit of good.
i' m willing to put the kcl/ucl "rivalry" aside if they're gonna let me in.

Spencer I gather from this thread that you can apply to a different college for the iBsc. Is this strictly for London colleges under the University of London or can the iBsc be done in other universities??

actually rumours has it that ucl and kcl will also be leaving the uol soon following imperial etc, im not sure if thats a rumour or its actually happening.. but say that did happen.. will that then cancel out the oppurtunity to study a bsc at another uol/ex-uol uni or is it just going to make it v.v.v.v difficult?
