    2008 Entry Medicine Dates

I am wondering when does the first year start this year? I assume it is sometime in October but when is it exactly? (For First year undergrad entry)

    Thanks!

If someone had to take 2-3 weeks off in January from the rcsi gep (1st year), would they miss much?

I've emailed RCSI regarding semester dates- most unis have an idea at least a few years in advance - will let you know. As for you Spike - if tis a skiing holiday you've got booked I'll gladly go for you so you don't have to miss class!

I've found the dates again on the web.

Got to rcsi.ie then medical and health sciences, student suport services, term dates.

Spike, I think January is exam time for GEP's

Ah ok - I'm used to having exams done with by Christmas. On the bright side, there is more time to prepare...

Thanks Catherine but I don't ski - I prefer 30 degrees in January.

Spike - you're off from Dec 15th to Jan 2nd, and then you'll have your exams, which will probably last 2-3 weeks depending on how they space them out. Missing lectures isn't a huge deal (unless you miss continuous assessment) as long as you let them know since attendence is mandatory for several components, and manage to keep up on your own time, but I'd avoid it if you can. You're not back in class till Feb 16th after the exams finish, so I'd try to arrange things around that.

And yes, the new GEPs start on Sept 15th. We'll be back a week before that getting things warmed up

Sportygirl - apologies that none of us have replied - am afraid we are all applicants for the GEP - as such, no interview was required so we can't really offer any advice on that front - hope you get the answers you are looking for tho, all the best xx
