Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could advise me on how and where I can obtain the statement of need for J1 visa application.

I graduated in Ukraine but have been living in the UK for the past 6 years. I have done PLAB and the first part of MRCPath but haven't actually worked in medicine in this country. At the moment I'm half way through with USMLE but there is no way I could manage Step 3 in time for Match 2009. As a result I'm only going to be able to apply to programs that sponsor J1.

Has anyone had an experience of getting the statement of need in the UK? I'd be most grateful if you could at least give me some directions as to where to start (GMC, DoH etc.)
