    A med degree theoretically lets you do postdoc work in the USA, but lots of the small print in the person spec of such jobs makes it clear you'd need at least a research masters level knowledge of lab techniques and basic science concepts in many cases.

    This is an entirely different and seperate process to doing a residency i.e. becoming a medical/surgical/whatever specialist...
    For PhD programs in the U.S., a British degree is just fine as long as you have the GRE. For U.S. medical schools, a whole other story......

    I realise I'm resurrecting an old thread here, and this is a question that won't affect me until WAAY into the future (I haven't even got a place at Med School yet!) but what's the situation with post-Residency applications? Can a British Consultant get a post as an Attending in the US?
