Say ive done premed, done medicine and now im doing my residency. Does this 4-6 years of residency cost me any fees? Or is it pretty much just like a doctors paid job but in a more learning sort of environment?

There are no fees with residency.
You get paid a stipend -about $43,000 yearly depending on location.. usually you can defer your med school loans while in residency, or at least for part of your residency...
Otherwise, its work lots and learn lots!

Hi, i am thinking about practicing medicine in America. I havn't started med school yet, and I just have a few questions.
    1. When do I apply to an american hospital, is it around graduation? or after you've done your Foundation years in Britain? or at some other stage of your doctos training?
    2. In Britain there are jobs where you can spend half your time on research, teaching etc. and spend the other half doing clinical work. Is this possible in America?
    3. How many years does it usually take for a med school graduate to become a 'full' doctor?
    4. What is the average maximum salary for a senior doctor? ( in Britain its around £120,000 per year)
    5. Is there heavy competation for jobs among overseas graduates?
    6. How much would the application process cost?

I don't know much about US medical system (I should really do my research).
    Thanks for the help people.
