Dropping a grade at A level
Are admissions likely to let you drop a grade at A Level, say from AAB to ABB?

Sorry to put a dampener on things but no! They will not even discuss a dropped grade. They may give you an offer as a repeat candidate where you would have to resit all 6 modules of the B subject in a year. But there will be no chance of getting in in that academic year. 3/4 years ago possibly but due to the volume of intakes now nope!
I got 3As and a B at A Level and because the B was in Chemistry I didn't get in. But they did give me an offer conditional on getting an A in chemistry so I have had to spend a year resitting it.
My advice is work hard and get your grades if you're serious about getting in!Queen's, Belfast 2005 - Conditional Firm - Offer achieved!HERE I COME!!!!

I don't things are quite that bleak!!!!
If you drop a grade on results day, and are holding an offer, then ring up and ask!!!

I had a friend whos offer was AAA and got in with AAB and the B was in chemistry! She phoned up on results day and they said she had a good personal statement. This was a couple of years ago though. it really depends on the number of places available after the results come out and how good your personal statement is since they dont interview.

I was only speaking from my own personal experience of queens VARIED A and it really is that bleak considering I had 3As and a B at A Level and still didn't get in!!! Although I have heard of universities in England and also Aberdeen and Dundee that you can ring up and get in. I think the safest advice is still not to take it for granted that if you get AAB that you'll PROBABLY get in. Work hard get your AAA and then they can't stop you!!!
