FY1 application form - additional information section- help please :(
hi.
i'm still in med school, so some of the ppl who have completed uni and all, gave me a copy of the FY1
online application form.
Looking through it i noticed that in the additional information section, there are questions like:
1. Details of your most relevant research work and publications in peer-reviewed journals.(max 500 words)
2. clinical audit.
I havent done any research during uni, so far, so i'm not sure what i can say for that.
do i simply
leave it blank?
Or just fill it with "i hope too....in the area of......" type thing?
thanks in advance.

Yup you just leave it blank if you don't have anything. Don't worry, a lot of people will have that box blank.

Most people don't have anything for that section, I certainly didn't but still scored 82 so it is possible to get a good score without extra achievements.

I don't recall there being a section asking about research or audit. Question 1 was asking about additional educational qualification, peer reviewed publications, national presentations and Nnationally recognised prizes.

op means question one. peer review publication etc is research and audits.
question is marked out of 10 marks. 6 marks for other degrees e.g. bsc, phd etc and 2 marks for publications you may have, 1 for presentation, 1 for prizes.
i didn't have any prizes/presentations/publications, but i got 90 overall, so don't worry.

Ooh 90, that's impressive.
Do you get any points for audits, even if they aren't published outside of your local trust?PMS *5th year* ~Emma~

thank you all for replying
big relief!
also just to check, under qualifications it says:
"Prizes or other academic distinctions"
do you list all subjects you got a distinction for or just a handful/major ones?

only audits that have been published in peer reviewed paper, or been presented at a national conference.
prizes are supposed to be national prizes. although someone at our medical school said that we should put down any 'best in the year' prizes etc anyway because someone marking your paper might be sympathetic and give you the mark, so you might as well try. but technically they shouldn't. i don't think there is any point putting down distinctions/merits you have got in exams though.
you will probably be given a lecture at uni all about it in beginning of final year, so you don't need to worry now.
