Lewisham University Hospital F1?
Any Lewisham F1s/F2s out there? Any comments regarding the hospital + staff + teaching? Suggestions for safe and commutable areas to live in?
Should be starting F1 in July (gen med/O&T/Paeds/O&G).....after passing the final viva exam in May that is.
Appreciate any info. Thanks

Lewisham hospital is liovely, it was my first choice but I didn't get it. I've had O&G and Paeds/Derm/Care of the elderly there.
The staff are fine in the specialities that you've got, the teaching was good and everyone seemed quite settled and happy.
South London is a very mixed area and there are lots of good places to live, but also lots of dodgy areas. I'd avoid Lewisham
itself as a place to live, Brockley is nice, some parts of Catford are okay. Greenwich is nice but expensive,
There is a good selection of house shares and rentals as there are a lot of colleges/unis in the area

Thanks a lot. Glad to hear good things about the hospital. Any word on the off-site hospital accommodation at Hither Green SE13? £100/wk sounds very tempting
Do most non-london based F1s live close to the hosp?

I don't know anything about the hospital accomm, hither green is quite close to the hospital so if you can sign up for it on a
temp basis it would be worthwhile til you get settled.
The transport links to Lewisham are pretty good, so people can live some distance from the hospital without too much trouble
getting in, there's not much parking near the site so that tends to rule out driving unless you're allocated a space.
I'm so jealous of you getting this placement!
Hope you do enjoy it there.

FM - thanks for all that info. I'll give the Lewisham accommodation office a call tomorrow. Looking forward to lewisham in July after all your positive comments.
Good luck at Darent Valley. Doesn't look like a typical NHS funded building!FY1 STFS

Darent Valley is PFI of course, but I am nearly excited about it, I got good rotations so it's not all bad, it's just that I can walk to Lewisham from my house and can't move (husband/son) so I will be commuting.
