banding for north central thames - please can someone help!!!

Hi i'm new to this forum but i am having a very hard time finding any information so hope someone on here will be able to help me.

i have been accepted into north central thames foundation school, however I am a barts and the london medic so have no idea about any of their hospitals. My main concern is banding as moving from north east into north central is going to be costly so I wondered does anyone know on average the wage per annum at royal free, uch or the whittington.

I am also interested in ent as a career so have included this in my f1 or f2 job preferences however I was informed if you do not do weekends or on calls I would earn the basic of 22k? Is this true?!!

Please can someone help me before the deadline 25th January, as in 3 days time!!!

    Thank you

Last year most NCT rotations involved 2 x 1B rotations and 1 unbanded, so you can still expect a fair wage.

i have posted this as a new subject but thought I would also put it here too.

Obviously having had no experience in any of these hospitals, perhaps yourself or someone else could help me with which out of the royal free, whittington and uch is most popular and why? what are they like to work in, what are the people like, the hospitals, the nursing staff, the departments....anything will be better than going in blind which is how i feel right now!

Also would anyone know if an FY1 ent job is banded or unbanded?

Thank you, deadlines in 2 days and I'm starting to freak out!!!!

I don't know for sure about the ENT job - if it's based at the RNTNE then it'll probably be unbanded, but if it's elsewhere then you'll probably be part of the general surgical rota and chances are you'll be banded.

As for hospitals out of UCH, RF and the Whitt, the Whitt is the only one I'd want to work in. It's got a lovely sense of community (and all jobs there are 1A banding). The Royal Free and UCH both have reputations for not treating their juniors very well (which I saw as an undergraduate and is the reason that 80 of us jumped ship to South Thames).

thank you so much for your help. I have only just realised there's a fb group for all of us in nctfs! But you've actually been a lot more helpful.

I think any london fy1 job is going to be tough, I realise probably not the greatest idea I have ever had but something I alway wanted to do and hey its only for a year. Quick question out of basildon, watford, qe2 and luton which of these is considered the better, most socialable/friendly and good teaching environment?

wow 80 of you went South! I have to say I am having slight second thoughts about not staying in NECFS but hey done it now gotta go with it!

Basildon is certainly the most fun and sociable. The best combination, in my humble opinion, would be the Whitt and Bas.
