Academic Posts
Hi,
This may sound like a silly question, but I can't seem to find an answer. For an Academic FY1/2 Post, does anyone know if its possible to apply to a number of programmes in different deaneries.
For example, I'm not too fussed about location, so can I apply for an Academic GP post in South Thames, North west and Merseyside for example?

Hi There,
I went through this procedure last year to secure an academic job for 2010.
Each year, the foundation website has links to the individual deaneries - check
each of these for their individual applications procedures and deadlines.
As long as you get the needed documents together as per procedure and apply
to each deanery by the closing date, you could apply to as many as you wanted
in the last applications cycle.
Check the foundation year website the year before you plan to start the programmes for the current rules and links.
Hope this is of help...Live the dream!

I went through the application process this year and as said, you can apply to as many Foundation Schools as you wish. This link shows the available posts this year with links to respective schools: The Foundation Programme - View list of Academic Programmes.

Hey Silverthread - there's many more types of academic posts out there than you mention - if hospital specialities are of interest to you...

Hi guys, currently thinking of whether I should apply for Academic FY posts...
Are university grades crucial when it comes to shortlisting? I'm a bit of a weird one in that the ironic thing is my academic ranking has been relatively dire to say the least (no iBSc), yet I'm very much involved in the research side of things.
If there is a stronger emphasis on scores (which is reasonable) then that's fine, thought it'd be worth a shot.

I would say that if there is a post that you are interested in then go for it.
