F2 in Birmingham University Hospital
HI everyone!
I'm starting my F2 placement in Birmingham University Hospitals in August and was wondering if anyone had some useful information? Anything that may be helpful e.g.
good areas to live (i'm looking for a flat)
what it's like to work as an F2 (i'm going to be in ICU, GI surgery and paeds)?
what pay can i expect?
is it true it takes ages to receive your contracts?
Would be great to hear from anyone working there currently as well!
Look forward to your posts
Thanks.

I assume you mean University Hospital Birmingham (UHB).
If you are looking for a flat then your options are either to live in the city centre or nearby Harborne has a few blocks with flats in. Selly Oak itself is very studenty and lively but a bit of a dump, Moseley and Bournville are a little further away, nice and easily commutable.
Expect a very disorganised medical staffing and you are unlikely to be correctly paid for the first few months.
I did a GI surgery PRHO job at UHB which was very good, but this was along time ago and things have probably changed.
