What to do after full registration??

    hello everyone,

i was wondering if anyone can help me out here..

i am a doctor who got my bachelors in Jordan, but i have the EU passport so as i understood i dont have to sit for the PLAB or the IELTS, i tried to hold provisional registration with the GMC but they advised me to finish my internship here in Jordan and after that i could obtain FULL registration. but i'm clueless in regarding to what to do after that? do i have to gegister with some other institution or i have to find a job directly?

any extra tips and help are more than appreciated..

    cheers

    Hello,

If the GMC have advised you that you can have full registration on completion of your internship in Jordan then you need to reapply to them with documents showing completion when you have finished and pay the fee to get onto the GMC list of registered medical practitioners.

They will then give you a GMC number. You should use this when applying to jobs through locum agencies; or an F2 (second year after graduation medical job) job, via the medical deaneries in the area you are interested in at The Foundation Programme - Homepage.

Completion of this year will allow you to then apply for a ST1 job - the start of specialist training - in a chosen area such as surgery or medicine or anaesthesia or psychiatry.

Once you are at this stage, you can find out the arrangements in your area to progress up the specialist training grades (st1-5 to 7, dependant on speciality) i.e. whether you will need to interview again at st3 year to enter the second part of specialist training.

On completion of specialist training and the exams stipulated by your royal college or faculty of your speciality - e.g. FRCS, MRCP + exit exam, Final FRCA - you will receive a Completion of Specialist Training (CCT). This will allow you to then take up a consultant (specialist) job in the NHS or another country in Europe (and potentially elsewhere, too!)

Hope this helps, and good luck!
