    Severn Deanery: post bandings?

    Hi there.
I found out this week that I got into Severn Deanery for my foundation training, which is exactly what I wanted. I now have to rank all 262 jobs- but cannot find any information on their bandings.

This is a bit toss, frankly. How can I be expected to essentially sign up for jobs whose pay and conditions I don't know? I am married and want kids in the next few years, and a house. I need to have forekknowledge of these things.

Can anyone here shed light on this? Links?

no one will know the bandings.
Even if you could find out the bandingds it would only be for the next year so would moot any help it may give on your long term plans for a house etc.

I would be surprised if there are many jobs left with significant banding. I'm planning on living off beans on toast for two years.

It seems all the 1.5 bandings are going this summer (due to EWTD) but 1.4 bandings are still compliant. As there is just as much work and less people to do it then i think the 1.4 will remain (just aviod psych, o&g, GUM, Paeds) which is not too bad.

Is paeds unbanded just for F1? Would it be if it was part of an F2 rotation?

Can't comment on Severn Deanery but as a paeds F2 in Yorkshire & the Humber, I'm banded at 50% since our rota's so brutal. I'm pretty sure our F1s are also banded - nobody is supernumerary in our department!

I just spent a few hours trying to track down people in the relevant trusts to ask these questions of. This information is correct as of 16th January.

North Bristol Trust: All F1s will be banded at 1b (+40%) except for Anaesthetics and ITU (1 post), 1*urology and 2*renal jobs, which are unbanded. At F2, all will be either 1b or 2b except GP training posts. They have an F1 policy of only giving one unbanded job per year (i.e. if unlucky enough to get one, you won't get another)

UH Bristol Trust: They helpfully don't know and won't know until around July. Currently all F1 posts are 1b. I didn't get the impression the woman knew what she was talking about.

If anyone else wants to carry this on, call the trust switchboard and ask for either medical personnel, staffing or HR.
