Hey all

I'm a Keele student, just finished 4th year, and so am currently in the process of contemplating FY1 jobs.

I'm from Chester, and live there with my wife so the 2 main hospitals I'm considering for FY1 are Chester or Wrexham (as I'm certain I want a DGH for FY1). The dilemma I have is that I've been advised to try and get a tertiary centre for FY2, and so for this reason I'm currently favouring Chester, as I can commute to most hospitals in the mersey deanery from Chester, but if I choose Wrexham I'd have to look at South Wales for a tertiary centre, which isn't really an option, so I'd have to be at Wrexham for FY1 and FY2.

I've looked at Wrexham and found lots of info on the web, and it actually looks like it's a great hospital for FY1 (particularly with the "free range" of 3rd strand jobs), but I've not found much information on Chester.

Does anyone have any advise, or any experience of Chester (good or bad)? I've got a feeling I'm probably over-analysing the whole thing, but with having 2 hospitals close by which both have their benefits, but are within different deaneries, it's making the decision a little tricky...

What sorts of FPAS scores tend to be required for the central Liverpool jobs? Any ideas? Obviously I don't know my SJT score yet, but I know that my EBM is going to be 39, so realistically I'm unlikely to get above about 85

P.S.: I went to register and saw that my username of choice was taken. I thought there was a slim chance it was me so tried my standard passwords...turns out it was me, 7 years ago!
