Hello, I am new to this forum and have a few question about applying medicine.
Hi everyone! Hope all of you are enjoying your summer holiday or will be enjoying it! Lets get to my questions if I may

I am a Year 2 Biomedical Science student in newcastle. I got a high 2:1 in my exams. Do you guys think I have a good chance of getting interviews? Also I am an international student, so if you guys have any idea of which university have more place for international students or anyway source for me to look into that would be appreciated.
Thanks for spending time in reading this!

I'm afraid no-one can tell you what your chances are. You just have to apply and hope for the best - like the rest of us!

We'd have a slightly better picture with the more you tell us, but as sa119 said, we have just as much idea as you- we aren't the people assessing your application form!
Have you done any volunteering? Do you have anything that will make you stand out on an application form or are you just going to blend in with the crowd and hope that you get extremely lucky? Call up various universities you would like to apply to and see what their stance is on International Students in regards to places, a lot of them can't accommodate you in regards to funding, but if you can fund yourself that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I agree with what has been said above, you need something on your application that shows commitment to medicine as a a career. Shadowing a doctor in a particular speciality you may be interested in is a great way to do this, but granted can be sometimes difficult to arrange. I cant comment on whether a 2:1 is high enough, it really does depend on many other factors your application form, interview performance etc. There are a few good sites for comparing medical school's admissions stats and % of graduate students etc, one is a direct gov site called unistats.
I hope this helps and good luck with the applications
