Personal statement for medicine and other science degrees?

    Hello,

I would like to know if a personal statement for medicine (only) will be accepted by other science degrees?

    Many thanks.

Depends on the degree but generally for things like biomed they're accepted.

Universities know that people apply to Medicine and often end up on courses such as Biomedical Science, Human Biology etc... so they overlook that, especially as potential medics are typically above average students who would help their league tables!

There are also various non biology ones that you can get onto with a medically orientated personal statement, but competitive courses it would be a lot harder (I'm talking Law/English courses as opposed to Chemistry/Biology courses). Admissions tutors can read through what you say to get a good feel of whether or not you'll be suited to the course you've applied for, and offer you a place accordingly.

If it's a light at the end of the tunnel you're looking for, very few people get rejected from their insurance choice due to a medically orientated personal statement- I'm a biomed and I didn't once mention that aspect of medicine in my personal statement. You'll do fine, good luck with your application!

Depends on the individual I suppose, the first year was mostly a walk in the park considering how little time you spend on the module content and how much time you spend in bed/the pub. I enjoy it so find it easier than some people who don't, but you can't underestimate any degree and it does get difficult at times.
