    Missed the Deadline : (

I missed the deadline - long story....

Payment went through at a couple of minutes past midnight, understandably the form says payment made on the 16th.

Anyone out there who still got to interview stage even though their form didnīt send until the day after deadline?

    Thanks M.M x

ouch, thats very unlucky. although universities say they give preference to the early (15th oct) applicants, they don't say that reject all late ones. So if your application is fairly strong, you should still have a shot

That sounds encouraging, thanks heart of gold.

The mention of payment on the 16th came up when my card was processed (not surprisngly as it was 2 minutes past midnight)

As to the strength of my application, I donīt know?

Im a mature applicant so if I have to reapply next year athough its not the end of the world, its just not ideal, Iīd be 33 on starting med school.

Its my fault as to the lateness.

I started the application in the last few weeks as out of the blue I was made an offer on my business so it was only in the last month that the got the ball rolling.

I am required to support my application with extenuating circumstances. Obtaining the evidence of this has been quite a process. My dad is mentally ill, he was happy to give the psychiatric hospital his permission to disclose his history to admissions however it was quite an ordeal going about this. I live overseas and it was pretty awkward having to make this request of my Dad over the telephone as its such a delicate situation, this caused considerable delay. He was required to go to the unit in person to sign his consent, he left doing this until last night. The stress of this and numerous phone calls resulted in me pressing the send button late last night, then the payment kept not going through, tried different cards, realised the prob was due to firefox, finally payment accepted at 2 minutes past midnight! This has been the most stressful experience of my life!

Hi, Don't loose heart I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Fingers crossed you'll make it through despite the deadline etc and even if you don't you'll be even more determined for next year. I missed out last year as I hadn't sat my UKCAT(hadn't planned on applying to the UK) but I must say the past year has been great as I feel so much more ready this time round to start into all of this... either way it will all be worth it in the long run. Good luck

I think you will be ok I spoke to UCAS last night and it can take up to a day or so for applications to filter through to the uni's. So yours will probably still be in last nights batch. The payment issues is a known issues, it hit me to, so they would be on sticky ground if they penalised you for it processing 2 mins later.

I would definitely speak to UCAS and find out exactly where you stand. I phoned them on Thursday evening to check that my application (which had been sent the day before) had gone through as my track status had not changed.

The very nice person I talked to explained to me that it can take up to 48 working hours for an application to be processed and that currently my application was in 'limbo'. It had been sent to them and was in their system, but had not yet been sent to my universities. However she assured me that because it was with them before the deadline even if my universities did not get it until Monday it would still count as being within the deadline (I just hope my universities see it that way as well).

Clearly your situation is slightly different, but it does sound like UCAS must inform the universities if the applications were sent within the deadline, or how else could they tell when acceptable applications are still arriving days after the deadline.

I would strongly recommend pleading your case to UCAS first and if they can't or won't help then I would contact your universities to explain the mitigating circumstances, UCAS might even do that for you.

aww thats unlucky dont worry im sure it wont be a problem, a couple of minutes here and there they cant penalise you for that!! and also there could also be a possibility of you having sent it on the 15th, but because of some sort of delay in the servers (im no IT expert but maybe something like too much bandwidth being used???? i dunno lol but its possible!!) caused ur application to not arrive at UCAS a couple minutes after midnight, and also since not everyone has the exact same time on their watches (e.g. wales and east anglia differ by a couple minutes)!
hope that at least made u feel better lol, although i still dont think it should be a problem

Definitely speak to UCAS, I hope its ok for you but I can see that they might decide that it isn't. With the number of applications they receive they would be under no obligation to consider yours if it is deemed to have been processed on the 16th.

    Good luck
