Should I write about my ALevel subjects I'm studying?
So should I write about my A level subjects I'm studying? Or is it a waste of characters?
Personally I think it's a waste of space, because the uni's know what your studying . And most people do the bio and chem combo, so uni's are just gonna get a bunch of personal statements like: 'studying biology is fascinating, i am interested in the anatomy of the body blah blah....'
It's not like they're getting any useful information out of it?
Or is it a necessity?
My teachers in school say I must write it in, but to be quite honest, they're the last people I want to be getting advice from, they are clueless when it comes to Medicine applications!
But anyway lol, what is/has everyone writing/written? Yay or nay?

hi,
i agree that the vast majority of candidates offer bio and chem, so talking about them at length is probably unneccessary. i included a sentence saying something like 'bio and chem give me a good scientific foundation to study medicine' (trying my hardest to paraphrase there!). however i also studyed A2 psychology, and with not all candidates offering this subject, i decided to BRIEFLY discuss how it gave me a different appreciation of science and society/people (perhaps 2/3 sentences). I think you could get away with not talking at all about bio/chem A-levels, but because i wanted to talk about psychology in my PS i didn't want to completely disregard my other A-levels.
I also believe that demonstrating scientific knowledge beyond A-level curricula is a good thing. In my personal statement i included small sections on my Extended Project and an assignment i did on atherosclerosis as a part of Manchester Uni.
hope this helps,
