I really really really want to go to edinburgh! I was rejected last year, do you think this is a total waste? Also, apart from bristol, birmingham and liverpool where else don't require admissions tests?

    Hey

Hey, I'm a re-applicant also. Just got my PS finished and got UKCAT on Tues.

How's everyone else finding the prep. for the UKCAT? . . . sense of unwelcome de ja vu for me tbh!

Hope the applications are going well!

    Hey Guys,
Yeah im reapplying this year after getting 4 rejections w/o interview in 2009. Last year I was reali upset abou it esp as i was the only one from my school applying for medicine so everyone else seemed to get all their offers and replies straight away from their unis. The problem Im finding this year is deffo the PS bcuz I didnt see anything obv wrong with my PS last year! So dont no what I should change, be writing etc. My teachers dont know either as they have only had experience of getting people into oxbridge- the last person hu got into medicine from my skool is in their 3rd year!
Am also quite scared abou the UKCAT but trying not to think abou it.

Abou the healthcare assistant job- I am starting one in october and although u are at an advantage if u have experience u do not have to have it. I didnt have any experience apart from voluntary work talking to old people and coaching netball but I just emphasised that I had good communication skills and was eager to learn and adept at learning new skills. I also recommend putting that u are applying to medicine as this looks like u will be commited to the patients and will work hard. Apply to loads of them as it takes many applications (i applied to over 20 before I got an interview), and band 2 is the one that usually doesnt need experience (I wouldnt apply 'bank' or for agency work as this requires people with experience.) just make sure u answer all the things in the personal spec in ur additional info i.e. if it says good numerical skills say something like I have an A grade at GCSE maths and have worked on the till at my local shop... And also Look Enthusiastic at interview!!!!!!!
    Hope this helps,
    Good Luck,
    Kate

    Apply and PS

Hey, I just wondered if anyone else is having problems with the PS section of Apply? Whenever I paste my PS in from word it tells me I'm 1 line over - I must have taken out around 50 characters so far and still I'm 1 line over.

I know it's a different format than both word and the input screen on apply but I'm sure I must have taken out a line by now, been looking at it and editing for 3 days!

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

    Thanks, Rick.

u,. i think i had that problem last year. its jus a pain tbh, i concluded, that it looks at your lines, then looks at how many words u over, then how many letters you over, but still says one line over.. hmm, eventually you'll get ther lol

Lol I hope so . . . still working on it and still apparently one line over! I phoned Ucas about it to see if this has happened before and they just said all I can do is keep trimming it down until "computer says yes" - fun fun!

How's everyones' UKCAT stuff going? I have mine on Tues and I feel less prepared than last year - I think that is due to the fact that I know what to expect and I know how I felt about it last year.

    Hey all,

    I'm reapplying, third year now...

Still struggling on with my PS. I'm finding it hard to cram so much in, finding it hard to justify two years spent before my bio degree that I just feel like I wasted other than the months I spent travelling...

Other than that, not looking forward to being under scrutiny again, facing possible rejection, again. But hey, I feel like it's my year this year

    good luck everyone!

I'm reapplying this year! Finding it so hard to re-do my PS, found it difficult to fit everything in last year and now we've got another year of experience plus we have to include what we'll do this year!! Utter nightmare. Had my ukcat today as well, hopefully for the last time now...hate the ruddy thing *whinge whinge whinge*
Can't decide where to apply to either, someone just choose for me please? *smiles sweetly*
    How is everyone else doing?

Hey, I know exactly what you mean! PS was once again a real struggle, but as you say Cateddie with more to include this year it was even more difficult. I don't think anyone particularly looks forward to re-taking the UKCAT, lol, though I suppose as people generally do better second time round it can be seen as a strong part of the application.

Lol the choices are quite difficult! I'm applying to Notts, Sheffield, HYMS and not sure about the fourth yet, though was thinking BSMS (with a decent UKCAT score I'm looking to capitalise on that - hence Sheffield and HYMS). I'm struggling to decide what to put as my back up choice, as I don't want to wind up with no offers again and no other place at Uni.

Hope you sort out the choices problem!
