Got offers, going to other interviews?

    Evening,

I'm the happy recipient of 2 offers from; you guessed it, 2 Medical schools. Put simply I've made my mind up on both the firm and insurance choices and am in the lucky situation where my first choice Uni has given me the lower grade offer.

I have no desire to go to the remaining two uni's left on my ucas form (never thought I'd get to say that) and have my heart set on my first choice, hence why it’s my first choice

Put simply should I withdraw my application to the other two med schools because they're wasting their time with my application and I really don't feel like going to anymore interviews. Call me sentimental but I’d like to hope me withdrawing my application will result in someone else getting a shot and achieving their dream like me.

Anyone else in a similar situation, what are you doing?

    Regards,
    Ryan

Well that's my new media medicine cherry popped...was worth the wait

Firstly congrats on your two offers
My friends in a similar position to you and has offers from her top two choices and she declined interviews to the other 2 interview invites she received.
I think its a good idea to withdraw since you don't want to go to either of those unis now that you have your top choices and as you said it may mean that someone else can get a place which they wouldnt have otherwise been able to get...so id say yes withdraw or decline the interviews

Alrite there Ryan... I was thinking ooh that's probably the Ryan from msn and then once i got to the cherry popping bit I was completely sure!

I'm in a similar position but went to the other interviews because i really didn't know which is my favourite. If you know there is noooooo way that you will go to either of the other two even if you get in I suppose it would be better to withdraw for so many reasons e.g. give someone else a chance or more selfishly the cost and time of going to interviews.. in the end of the day if you know where you want to go is there any point?

I just realised what an idiot i'll look like if your not the Ryan from msn but anyway I'm glad to have shared your first time with you and hope it was an enjoyable experience

Firstly, Well done on you're offers and which unis are they from ?
Also I'm in the same situation as you and have withdrawn from the other unis because I have got an offer from my first choice, even got the confirmation letter from UCAS. But yeah my feeling was the same that by withdrawing someone else will get an interview invite instead of mine and have the chance to get a place.

Hi there Ryan. Congratulations on your interviews and offers.

Personally I would withdraw if you have no intention of accepting offers from the remaining med schools.

That way interview spot will be given to someone who may be considering attending that med school.

    Regards
Mad genius or just plain mad? Only time will tell.

Thanks for the replies people, you've just confirmed what I felt was the best option I guess.
moonumer - My offers are from UCL and Kings
2009? As lovely as it was sharing this special moment with you I have to confess I'm not the Ryan from msn. I am called Ryan, and I do have an msn account, but I'm almost certain this was my first time with you.

Baki I wish you the best of luck with your application, hopefully I'll see you at enrolment if you choose the same uni as me

    All the best,
    Ryan

Quick edit: 2009? You don't look a complete idiot for getting it wrong.

haha how embarrasing! there were so many similarities though!

Are you definitely going to withdraw your application then, and, out of interest which were the other 2 you applied for?

Now I'm scared I'm going to meet a medic called Ryan whose very similiar to me at some conference next year. Yeah I've withdrawn from Imperial and Barts now...very strange feeling as I did it. Hopefully this week a nervous student will get a fantastic email, who knows.

Hi, Sorry For hijacking this thread- not sure if my query is strictly relevant...

Once we have heard back from all institutions- how long do UCAS give us to make our decision on firm/insurance choices? I have potentially got a difficult choice on my hands and don't want to rush into it!

    Cheers
