Not graduating til 2009 but done my degree already :S

Hi
i was meant to graduate from my degree this year but as i took my exams late i wont be graduating until 2009. Im not sure whether to put on my UCAS form that my course ended in 2008 or 2009?
im thinking if i put 2009 then it will take away from the confusion and having to explain why i took my exams late (which was for reasons that i dont think will look particularly good to a medical school) and also prevent questions about what i did in my gap year.
Does anyone else have any ideas about what they think i should do?

I am having a very similar problem. I intend to forward a letter to my chosen universities once i have submitted my application.
