Changing University Option After Ucas Form Has Been Sent
Hey guys, 4 days till the end of application deadline. Sent mine in september (last day of)
PREPARE FOR A LONG STORY.
Right, here it is:
I put Oxford down as one of my choices (reapplying this year) and I got A,A,B in my results this year. I know Oxford wants 3A's, so I was thinking I should try and change my choice to another university.
I was predicted A in Chemistry (I had around 90-98% in the first four modules then panicked in the last exam of CH5 and CH6a...ended up missing the A by 8 marks)
My referee did not mention that I was predicted to get an A in this year's application (since the other universities I applied to didnt need 3 As) but Oxford admissions is telling me to write a letter to them to explain followed by confirmation by the referee, followed with their own application form. (then that BMAT, which I apparently did ok enough last time due to GCSE lightening BMAT weight)
My question is,
1. is it possible to change courses after sending the application
1a Just popped into my head now, but has anyone heard from UCAS yet (those whove send their application)
2. If you were somehow in my position would you take all the hassle of applying to oxford or just change the university choice?
Thanks to those brave enough to answer these questions.

1. Yes it is possible to change your course after giving your application to ucas, I think you have two week in which to do it in.
1b. I havent yet send my application yet, but I think some people have started hearing from ucas. Try reading this thread http://www.medschoolguide.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=16435
I think it was that one anyways.
2. I dont know if I would risk lossing one of my 4 choices because I havent got the right grades. But if Oxford said they will consider you and you really like the uni then go for it.
All the best.
Hope this helps.

Thanks! Once again you've come to my aid! Lol.
I'm co confuzzled. Im so indecisive, if i get options I just dont know how to choose!
Try the oxford route again or apply somewhere else which is less hassle.
The only thing that I really like about oxford is the considerable amount of sciency stuff there, the facilities, the funding for research, the integrated BSc in BioMed and the great all time reputation of having studied medicine there.
But like everyone else is saying, anyone who leaves university A or Z will still be a doctor...hmm..
Either risk rejection with oxford or increase chances with an easier uni.
I'll be in work in bout 14 minutes so that will probably take this out of my mind.

Thanks all! I'm phoning UCAS tomorrow to tell them to change UNI.
My initial intention of applying was only to cardiff, but since the school is charging a flat rate of £15 I thought might as well use up the others (and put ox down again).

Ah, I thought I was gonna change my mind but after reading my referee's statement, I see that he's stressed I will not be resitting anything. lol. so off to find a UNI that accepts 370POINTS.

I was told my admissions that my statement was very strong...grades more or less on level expected, BMAT ok last year (it was statement that crapped up then...reeal bad) Its just sad not knowing if I coulda made it this year. But reality check...the 20% of people applying there are ultra brainy and have ultra high chances of getting in and they only have so many spaces, so yeah...not worth it. omg damn these indecisive cold feet.

Then living with yourself and asking what if...if you really want to give it a try then go for it...
The only reason why I would advise you to change it is because you dont have the 3A they are asking for.
All the best with what you choose
