No I didn't write my BMAT number, I dont even remember last year's one

Why wouldnt you get your results?
My results came with the oxford form, since Im applying to universities which do not need it, Cardiff, Bristol, Liverpool, Southampton, there's really no point to it but wasting 3 hours on nonsense questions.

I dont know much about the BMAT test has you can gather from this post.
lol. Thanks anyway for trying. Anything and everything helps, even when it comes from a source that may not know much about a certain topic, something they say may be appropriate. Like perhaps contacting ucas about it.

I think they ask for your last year application number so they know you applied before? And unis know to??? Who knows.
Yeah, I think that's why. I think if I do that, they will also have acces to last years application, since Cardiff said, when theyre reapplying theyll look at my new application to see if ive just sent the same one again.

This frightens me because theres a significant change between my old personal statement and my new one. Also, I was predicted to get an A in french but I dropped it the day before the first exam. I think I will be questioned about that if i get an interview. But i dont care, as long as i get the interview.

I didnt put my last years number, didnt know where it went and when I found out too late and couldnt remember by last years number.
lol, no worries! i prob shoulda done that too!

Really your not going to try again for medicine?
Well 3rd time? OMG. My friend knows someone who applied 3 times yet still got rejected (to do dentistry)

I know for a fact if I dont get in, then I'm applying again(Lets hope its not going to get there)
3rd time though? As much as I want to be a doctor, I am eager and ready to learn. I need to be in that environment so I'll probably move and study abroad. That was one of my first options the first time around, but I decided to stick here.

Good I made sense I can tell you sometimes, I dont make sense lol. I'm sure some people on here will agree with me there.

lol. S'orrite blossy. Ur like my shrink here.

    All the best
    And to you too!

I'm sure it will be fine. There is a lot of change in your personal statement..well that should be good

Why did you drop french ?

I'm sure you'll be fine in the interviews! How many interviews did you get last year?

Making me think that I should have put my last years number in!!

Well so what if its the 3rd time...If I dont get in (hopefully we both will) then its going to be my thrid time too..

The poor thing...3 times and rejection. He/she must be doing something wrong. Are they still applying?

    Shows determination though

I thought too much change maybe, like this person maybe lying.
Last year I was reading guide books saying "they all know you want to go into med" so i didnt really stress why I wanted it. This time I did and added a lot more work experience than last time. Bristol said thats what I needed.

Why did you drop french ?
I only took it so that the admissions would see the broad not all sciency person. Although I was gonna take art instead of it, long story short, I was brainwashed by my teacher to take it (after gcse results)

I kept it on only for the UNIs and since they dont seem to be pleased with it i just dropped it (after doing the a2 work for a whole year..but dont wanna think bout that now)

I'm sure you'll be fine in the interviews! How many interviews did you get last year?
Fingers crossed. I got ZERO medicine interviews last year. So im still in the same boat as last year not knowing what on earth I will feel like. I think im one of the few who didnt get an interview at all at my school. Biomedical Sciences didnt give me an interview, although they did give me a place, but still, an interview woulda been cool for practice. But yeah, some courses/unis dont need them.
Making me think that I should have put my last years number in!!
lol. dont worry bout it. If it was such a big thing they woulda made it clearer what to do.

Ahh so your not going to give up trying to get into medicine?
Yeah, my friend was real crap at making people feel better. After not getting in this year she was like "well there are people who didnt get in 3 times!" (could be viewed positively, but at the time it seemed bad)
When i read the other post i thought your going to give up and go aboard and do something else.

Im quite inarticulate when talking, like you ever watch buffy? When they get flustered and talk wierd...yeah like that.

    Thank you

    Good luck
    lol. yup, to us both.

Im scared. Some people are already hearing when their interviews are. Some theirs is in a week or so! OMG!

    DO you know when

    Cardiff
    Bristol
    Liverpool
    Soton

    have theirs around?

btw, are you in college/6th form/other higher education.

Nope I dont think...they wouldnt think your lying. Firstly they will look at both the personal statement and compare them, after that they will know that you put more effort into this years personal statement and you are more mature and more determined (since its your second time around applying). Anyways if they think your lying they can ask you question in the interview and make sure your not lying.

Whatever the book was about, doesnt look like a book I would tell other to read, whom are trying to get into medicine.

Its good that you have added lots about your work experience and looking at your feedback and building that into your personal statement.

So is Bristol your first choice if you get a offer?

Ohh too bad you didnt take art then... but too late for that now. I'm sure being a all science person, you wont have much disadvantages...since I was one of them.

Still dont understand why you dropped it just before the exams After all that hard work....
But I suppose you have your reasons...be ready for unis asking you why you dropped it though. Got a answer ready?

Ohh sorry to hear that...but yes fingers crossed this year you'll be more lucky and get a interview and even a offer Well hopefully both will get interviews and offers.

Have you been to any interviews? Eg job?

    Had any mock interviews?

Lol! i can give you a full dose of how I felt in my interviews lol!
University interviews was the most worst experience of interview I had...(not to scare you though)

Indeed many course do not have interview to attent to.

I can tell you about soton the most since I applied here last year.
Since they dont interview they take their time replying back to people. The first bunch comes though at christmas..mostly of rejection and some offers.

Last year I heard from then on March with my offer. And one of my friend in April/May. So dont worry too much if you dont hear from them for sometime. Just because you havent heard doesnt mean you havent got a offer..actually the wait might be a good thing.

Not really sure about the rest...since i didnt apply there.. but some inform..might not be totally correct though.

Cardiff have alot of application and interview starts from now until March.

Bristol, same lots of application and I think they start interview nearly too, but they take their time getting back to people. Peck time for interview is Jan-Feb. Same with Liverpool too. So you have a long wait. We all have.

Might be wrong for the last three unis so anyone else can add their own information.

So is Bristol your first choice if you get a offer?
No, Cardiff is, But bristol was the only uni who bothered replying to requests about discussing rejections. I wouldnt have cared if they rejected me like in nov/dec/jan..but they left it till the last week of march. (ALL but oxford who rejected me in dec )

Ohh too bad you didnt take art then... but too late for that now. I'm sure being a all science person, you wont have much disadvantages...since I was one of them
    .

I was gonna take A2 art this year, and do art like msot everyday, but It wouldnt be possible with all the voluntry work that I do.

Still dont understand why you dropped it just before the exams After all that hard work....
But I suppose you have your reasons...be ready for unis asking you why you dropped it though. Got a answer ready?
I intended to drop French early in December, after experiencing a lack of lessons. This was caused by an assortment of reasons, including clashing timetable, and insufficient French tutors. Since I was the only year 13 student, my tutor prioritised the larger year 12 group. The most lessons I had were 2 a fortnight, mixing about 3 of them with year 12. In the end, my tutor started becoming ill and I ended up having about 1 lesson a month.

the careers advisor and the tutor incharge of university applications said that I should wait on the universities incase they make an offer based on French. So when the last university (bristol) rejected me, then I dropped french.

I felt this way, I could also focus my time on my other three subjects better. By dropping french, I gained extra days to revise for Biology and I ended up getting an A in that (i dont know how, the teacher was quite awful and we all thought we'd fail)

Have you been to any interviews? Eg job?
Well, been to a volunteer interview, but it was more of an impromtu chat to find out more about me.

    Had any mock interviews?
no. I might ask my tutors in school for some (im not going to any lessons yet)

Lol! i can give you a full dose of how I felt in my interviews lol!
University interviews was the most worst experience of interview I had...(not to scare you though)
Lol. After having my first driving lesson today, I wouldnt mind the interviews now. It was soo scary. I didnt think he'd make me drive on the busy roads and go onto roundabouts and yikes! I didnt have much common sense, kept changing gears without putting the stupid cluth down. then when i did try to change gear i took my eyes off the road. (hmm...multitasking...i can normally do that with anything..except driving). ANYWAY..dont wanna think about that now.
Indeed many course do not have interview to attent to.

Thats why soton was one of my choices.

    Ouch..

But did her friend make it at the end? Or is she still apply?
dunno. it was a guy who she met during her interviews. He said its he's already applied 3 times and still didnt get in.

    Yup interviews are already coming...

Dont panic too much, there is nothing you can do.

What you can do now is read around the subject and hope for a interview. And also enjoy life
Yah. I'll do some zen meditation to calm down :P lol.

I can tell you about soton the most since I applied here last year.
Since they dont interview they take their time replying back to people. The first bunch comes though at christmas..mostly of rejection and some offers.
That would be a fantastic chrismas present. Place at UNI. or something to get you depressed..lol.

Why are you reapplying if you had an offer for Medicine at SOTON? They're a real good uni for med right?
Not really sure about the rest...since i didnt apply there.. but some inform..might not be totally correct though.
    oh...ok

Cardiff have alot of application and interview starts from now until March.
OMG, they start from now?!?!?! ooooh. they'll probably be gits again and reject me in march. id rather them do it now.
Bristol, same lots of application and I think they start interview nearly too, but they take their time getting back to people. Peck time for interview is Jan-Feb. Same with Liverpool too. So you have a long wait. We all have.
Id like some time to prepare...must stop procrastinating!!

Might be wrong for the last three unis so anyone else can add their own information.
Does anyone ever come to this thread now? lol. Its just one on one with the blossy. Its probably in the main uni forum, since its a question most applicants ask (when is the interview starting)

    Yes I'm in 6th form.
They registered me in the 6th form so I wouldnt have to keep getting visitors passes (had to come to school to sort out my reapplication) and so that i wouldnt pay for examinations.

This post took be three tried to get it right...I keep on losing it fo some reason.

    Have fun

    Ahh okies...any reason why Cardiff?

Yeh its harsh after all that wait to find out you have a rejection.

But it worth all the wait if you get a offer... <--- Hopefully this one will be the one this year.
I was gonna take A2 art this year, and do art like msot everyday, but It wouldnt be possible with all the voluntry work that I do.
    Ohh too bad...

you must be really good at art.

Got any picture you could show me?

I intended to drop French early in December, after experiencing a lack of lessons. This was caused by an assortment of reasons, including clashing timetable, and insufficient French tutors. Ohh well you have a reason why you dropped it then...

Biology is one of these subject you can actually teach yourself. Well done on the A btw

Well, been to a volunteer interview, but it was more of an impromtu chat to find out more about me.
Ahh! Most of my voluntry interview were like that too.

But my work experience interview was kinda horrible...they even asked me why medicine..but good pratice for the real thing.

I had another mock interviews too.

no. I might ask my tutors in school for some (im not going to any lessons yet)
    Thats great

Maybe we can give eachother mock interviews through the net...

But its going to be hard like this..maybe through chat or Pm lol!

Lol. After having my first driving lesson today, I wouldnt mind the interviews now. It was soo scary. I didnt think he'd make me drive on the busy roads and go onto roundabouts and yikes! I didnt have much common sense, kept changing gears without putting the stupid cluth down. then when i did try to change gear i took my eyes off the road. driving *shudder**shudder*

I just can seem to pass my test *cry*

Can still remember my first lesson....I was so hyper after it..lol

Thats why soton was one of my choices.
    So you dont like interviews?

dunno. it was a guy who she met during her interviews. He said its he's already applied 3 times and still didnt get in.
    Ahh okies

Yah. I'll do some zen meditation to calm down :P lol.
    lol....

    I've never tried meditation..maybe i should lol!

That would be a fantastic chrismas present. Place at UNI. or something to get you depressed..lol.
yup it would be a great christmas present...but in the other hand if its a rejection it can really get someone down.

I know someone that got a rejection just days before christmas..not a happy experience.
Why are you reapplying if you had an offer for Medicine at SOTON? They're a real good uni for med right?
Do you really think i would be having a boring time in my life and reapplying if I actually could go to uni...NO WAY! I would be at uni have a good time

I sure I told you this before but maybe not...

The reason Im reapplying is because I didnt make the grades

And yes Soton is a great medical school.

OMG, they start from now?!?!?! ooooh. they'll probably be gits again and reject me in march. id rather them do it now.
Dont worry about it..and dont think negative..think postive.
Id like some time to prepare...must stop procrastinating!!
I'm sure they will give you time to prepare..
Does anyone ever come to this thread now? lol. Its just one on one with the blossy. Its probably in the main uni forum, since its a question most applicants ask (when is the interview starting)
lol..you might be surprise..I'm sure people still read this thread.

One to one with 'the blossy' lol! Makes be sound big there lol!

Yes you most like find it on the repective uni threads..
They registered me in the 6th form so I wouldnt have to keep getting visitors passes (had to come to school to sort out my reapplication) and so that i wouldnt pay for examinations.
Are you retaking some of your modules?

Aww, and you wrote it 3 times?!! dedication bloss! woah! i feel honoured! lol.
Well you should feel honoured !

Well I couldnt not reply to the post, that would be just plain rude.

Btw before I conclude this post...a question...what is your gender?? Boy or girl?

Ok strange question but just want to know since i keep on getting people gender wrong on here...

And no I'm not going to tell you what gender I think you are..because i might be wrong..

    Have fun

    Damn right!

American Book!!!!!! Dif not the right book to follow here...
Well there were some good advice, but i ended up just looking over past people's ps to view the structure and any nifty phrases. The ones my teacher liked came from an article a doctor wrote about why he wanted to be a paedeatric (i do not know what i want to specialise in yet) but some inspiring words. I tried to make a different "i always wanted to be a doctor...mixing love of science and caring for people" cliched openings. To be different my first run was so dramatic, about my near death experience when I was 5 but that was all scrapped since I didnt want to shock them. My tutor said he was going to be more strict this time and took out any bits that were the slightest bit "iffy".

Did you get many people to check it for you??? Well too late for that.
I printed out several (too many, the laser printer went berzerk!!). I tried to get as many teachers and some friends to read it (didnt want to burden all my friends so much since they were also busy with their own ps) My tutor changed (what he saw as the first draft) quite a lot, weaving the paragraphs in a more coherent structure, even changing the sentences i put there for ones I had previously deleted!

When I saw the media teach, (my old english teacher for 5 years - and my mates mum) the only thing she found odd from that first draft was the thing my first tutor thought was the best bit about it.

This is why the head of english, who helped me last year, didnt want to give advice this time because he thought last year, he and my uni tutor gave conflicting/contradictory advice.

    Ahh okies...any reason why Cardiff?
PLENTY. This message will excede the text limit if i bother explaining why.

Yeh its harsh after all that wait to find out you have a rejection.

But it worth all the wait if you get a offer... <--- Hopefully this one will be the one this year.

Yeah, it sucked. Sucked big time. It was my birthday like a week before ucl rejected me, a day before cardiff rejected me and 2 days after bristol!

Whats worse is that my form tutor was pickin on me for uniform...kept sending me to the head of 6th form for innaprorpiate clothing.....and then there was this big scandal going on in the school, which I ended up being blamed for because I tried to be understanding and see this culprits point of view (loong story again). Since I went to a CATHOLIC school, I tried to view like the ethos of forgiveness etc. And so with their narrowminded ness they thought "nooo, the only reason you'd think that is if it was you." Yeah, quite a low point. The good thing is that it kinda died down (the blaming me for this scandal thing ) when it happened again whilst I was doing that all day CHEMISTRY PRACTICAL. That person was never caught. I hate being blamed for stuff I didnt do...although its a lesson I've learnt that I need to be tougher...especially in Medicine with this compensation culture and idiots trying to get money whereever they can - even from people who were trying to save their lives.

    Ohh too bad...

you must be really good at art.

Got any picture you could show me?
Art is/was my passion. Apart from science thats my other Forte. Its what I was known for mainly through my school life. Jay the arty guy...I got A* in at GCSE, and the only other person was my friend Hannah. She's still doing it now for A-Level.

The ironic(not sure thats the word) thing is that I dropped Art for French...A2 art is probably one of the hardest subjects...not sure anyone got an A at it this year for A2.

But sacrifices had to be made if I was to become a doctor. History and English...I loved them too...actually I loved all my subjects. At GCSE I thought it was stupid we were only meant to take 3.

as for art peices, I havent got any of my actual art on my PC. LOL.

Biology is one of these subject you can actually teach yourself. Well done on the A btw
Thanks! lol. When you have a teacher like that, you have to! lol. The one we had for AS was soooo bad, my group had a meeting with the deputy head mistress and head of 6th form to complain! In the end, she was removed (she knew her stuff but kept going round the mulberry bush...ask her why the thorax is so called, and she will spend the rest of your lesson with advanced phonics and the history of latin)

I didnt mind the teaching myself bit. I actually enjoyed it, being able to understand things outside the syllabus. I was soo ready for the BI5 module, I couldnt shut up reciting the processes of nerve transmission and the movement of muscles...alas as with all my cramming revison - none has stuck in my brain. I couldnt tell you what the defensive cells in the body are called right now, although some how during the exam you'd swear i had an encyclopedia with me.

    A
hh! Most of my voluntry interview were like that too.

But my work experience interview was kinda horrible...they even asked me why medicine..but good pratice for the real thing.
Yeah, some of them are quite sarcastic about people going into medicine, and make that tone of "oh, better than me are you?" and then im just like "well I want to go into the health care profession, what better way than to observe people at the forefront of the care industry" (didnt say it like that though)

I had another mock interviews too.
    I never had one...

Maybe we can give eachother mock interviews through the net...

But its going to be hard like this..maybe through chat or Pm lol!
MSN dude! lol. Will probably be easier to talk there, but I like the way using the forum can articulate your answers, and make them more comprehensible.

    driving *shudder**shudder*

I just can seem to pass my test *cry*

Can still remember my first lesson....I was so hyper after it..lol
*shudders* lol. Thinking about driving is the worst thing. When Im driving, its ok. When I realise "OMG...IM IN A CAR...AND IN THE DRIVING SEAT..AND THE ENGINE IS ON...AND IM IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD...DRIVING IT!!!!!!!"

    So you dont like interviews?
Well aint had many. I had an interview to be "head boy" (which i didnt wanna be) I just froze and omg. The worst thing! I did manage to say that I don't mind if I just be deputy cos we're doing the same thing, its just the other guy just wants it soo much more. I didnt want to get it for (other reasons why I had a good chance in getting it..no point listing here, will sound obnoxious)

    lol....

Do you really think i would be having a boring time in my life and reapplying if I actually could go to uni...NO WAY! I would be at uni have a good time

I sure I told you this before but maybe not...

The reason Im reapplying is because I didnt make the gradeS

And yes Soton is a great medical school.
Ah soz, I thought I might have read it. Although I have gathered that you are a very intelligent person, thus probably why my brain deleted that reason for not going to uni.

lol..you might be surprise..I'm sure people still read this thread.

One to one with 'the blossy' lol! Makes be sound big there lol!

Yes you most like find it on the repective uni threads..
Lol. Senior member bloss! One of the big guns who are online more often that others, n ready to chat and give advice! I like this thread, they dont kill (F.O.S.) newbies for posting things that have already been posted.

Are you retaking some of your modules?
Depends. The uni's I have picked now apparently give offers within the grades I achieved. Although if they wanted, I could revise and do that dang chemistry exam again. It was the one I was actually doing the best in out of the other three subjects till the last two exams. I panicked, realising that this was the last exam ever. I did some past papers, and - i couldnt do any of them. I freaked and started teaching myself those topics. When I came to doing the exam, the ironic thing was that it included only the things my teacher taught us, and none of the extra topics I made myself learn. It was actually an easy paper, if that is, you learnt what the teach gave you. I missed the A by a whopping 8 marks. Its probably going to be even harder if I do decide to resit that module since Im not in school doing chem. Hopefully they(uni) wont ask for it.

Well you should feel honoured !

Well I couldnt not reply to the post, that would be just plain rude.

Btw before I conclude this post...a question...what is your gender?? Boy or girl?
    lol. i am lol!

As to my gender, you would probably have worked it out from the paragraphs above. if not Im a guy. Yeah, the way I excessively babble makes people think Im a girl. My best mate now is a girl, and probably in my latter years hung around them more than the guys.

Ok strange question but just want to know since i keep on getting people gender wrong on here...

And no I'm not going to tell you what gender I think you are..because i might be wrong..
I'm assuming you thought I was a girl from that other post. Like how many guys go "omg!". LOL. Im not camp, its just I get over excited sometimes and just cant stop talking..in a very expressive way.

Well there were some good advice, but i ended up just looking over past people's ps to view the structure and any nifty phrases............that were the slightest bit "iffy".
I sure it did have some good advise..Americans have to be a graduate to apply for medicine.

And the other thing I've noticed about American personal statement, is that they are more of a story telling then an actually personal statement.

Paedeatic ! Hehe! Near death experience??
What happened here??? Something medical related?

I had one of them :S!

    Good of your teacher.

I printed out several (too many, the laser printer went berzerk!!). I tried to get as many teachers and ..........structure, even changing the sentences i put there for ones I had previously deleted!

Lol! I didnt actually print my personal statement of too much, just got people to review it through the computer. Hopefully all is well.

Looks like you did a good job with getting your personal statement reviewed this time.

    I'm sure its great.

PLENTY. This message will excede the text limit if i bother explaining why.
Someone really likes Cardiff..but they must to a certain main reason?

Aww poor you. you have uniform at 6th form? ! We need to wear formal wear.
Well we dont have a uniform we have to wear formal that fits into the colour scheme of either white black or grey. No trainers. No Jeans.

I came in wearing Black Jeans, Black n White Adios, Black shirt open with white tshirt underneath and a black tie (sound wierd) and one of the teachers went ballistic over it.

Getting blammed for something you havent done really get me mad. I just happen to be one of them goody goody people at school. So i cant get away with nearly anything...! But thats only school though.

Yeah, patients/residents are well cool. Even the ones with dementia.

In one nursing home, I met one guy one week, then I hear that he died the week after. Speaking of death, my friend passed away (car accident) this morning. : ( quite sad, makes you just see how fragile life is.

How many lessons have you had so far, and when did driving seem natural to you?
Had to many lesson to count.

Not to make myself big headed but driving was great and natural at the beginning...but now I think i'm just lossing the plot. I'll say my 3rd lesson.

After you've got your striaght line and turning it should all get better.

Have fun in the mean time.
Honestly, Id rather learn how to do brain surgery that learn how to drive!!
    Totally agree with you there...

    Thank you! I hope so.
Spamming, how do you spam? (I know what spam is - is it like beinga post whore where you just post anything and everything from "lol" to ","
    I didnot do that..

Its just moving the thread off topic, like this as kinda.

And mostly my post come from 1000000 thread but the post counted that is.

You only need 500 to turn into a senior member, I would still be a senior member without the spamming.

Lets just say spamming is not a good idea.

Well some forums, they hate newbs, and get mad when they ask stuff thats been asked before. Like on this phone forum, people keep asking things about their phone that have been asked before and they get flamed!
    ouch..

You know what, I dont even know myself now. :s

    Oh yeah, figure of speach.
    lol okies.
