Grad Entry Interviews - GAMSAT
Got one of these coming up in March. Does anyone have any general info on the style / type of interview to expect? How formal or structured is it likely to be and how many people on the panel etc? Thanks!

Hi Simos. Peninsula is very structured, but they are friendly people and will interact with you, unlike SGUL. There will be a short questionnaire to fill in about why you want to be a Dr and work experience and problems in NHS. You can answer this in bullet points, they aren't expecting essays. There will then be a choice of ethical scenarios for you to read through and select your fav. You will then be called in front of a panel of four including a lectuerer, a doctor, a med student or health care prfessional and a member of the public (to see if you feel like a Dr) and you will be asked ten questions on your ethical sceneario and your empathy. This panel only know your name and nothing else, so it won't be about your PS, so don't be afraid to rehash things you havesaid in it about your work experience and the like. Sorry about SGUL and good luck with this one!

That's ok, I applied first time round as a school leaver and had an interview but was rejected after. I am applying again (third time lucky) as a grad with the GAMSAT. I don't think they would have a different interview style because they don't have a seperate course for grads so they need to keep the application style as fair as possible. Though something to be opptomistic about is that PMS like grads and mature students because they feel it adds to the group dynamic and they have a lot of life experience to pass on to the school leavers. They will be able to give a more mature point of view when approaching the PBL cases.

Do you think you are likely to get asked more standard questions too? Some of the other threads on here suggest more specific things around greatest achievements and handling stress for example, or are they all wrapped up in the context of the scenario? Thanks again!!
