Do i have any chance of being given an offer?
well, my AS level results were:
Biology B
Chemistry C
English B (Dropping English)
Sociology B
General Studies B
I am confident that if i work hard enough this year i can achieve ABB or even AAB this year but i doubt my teachers will raise my predicted grades as my GCSEs went terribly wrong (3As 5Bs 2Cs)
do i have a chance of being accepted into Peninsula Medical School?
If i manage to raise my Biology to an A and chemistry to a B, i should hopefully have ABBBb at the end of year 13.
i have really good work experience and enrichment etc
so basically, do i have any chance at all?

PMS and just about every other medical school in the country don't even look at your general studies grade.
Use this calculator: UCAS - Points Calculator
to work out how many your self-predicted A levels would get you, and if it's above 370, you can apply to Peninsula, and if you apply with all those grades in hand they'll guarantee you an interview.Last edited by Yixian; 26-08-2008 at 12:25 PM.

That depends on the number of applicants. This year I emailed them and they said they were only able to interview those that had ABB, AAC achieved or AAA predicted. The only way to guarantee yourself an interview is if you have 420 points which is the maximum you can get AAA and A in a separate AS-level or better have already acheived 370 points.
Otherwise they rank you in order of UCAS tariff points. 370 points is not very convenient especially because more people will have 370+ points.Last edited by Randolf_Rolm1919; 26-08-2008 at 05:40 PM.

i dont really get the discussion, why wouldn't you apply this year anyway? Doesn't cost you much, apart from a written PS.

It only costs you £17 for UCAS and some time to write a personal statement. Why would you not want to apply to medicine this year? Btw, did you check my reply for the other question you had?
I gave you lots of different options of what you could do. Don't lose hope man. I always think it's better to apply, then if you don't get an offer but have the grades re-apply, and hopefully to at least 2 medical schools that accept re-sit candidates like Peninsula, UEA does.

Do PMS have the rule where if they decline you one year they won't consider you the next? Some unis do, not sure about Peninsula.

There's speculation about PMS raising their grade requirements to AAB, so I'd apply this year, and if you don't get in then you can resit to bring your grades up.
To get an interview, you will really have to be predicted for AAA or AAB. Also, try to get that Chemistry up to a B, if you can.
Be optimistic, but unless you're confident of ending up with AAB then I wouldn't wait.Peninsula Medical School
